So hot the Devil can't take this heat!,
This review is from: Hot Gospel (Get Right With God) (Audio CD)
This is a phenomenal collection of intense, ecstatic old time gospel, very rough around the edges & more rockin' than even the early rock and rollers of the same era. As soon as you've heard the opening track "The Tree of Life (Is Waiting for Me)" you know it's a Holy Ghost party that don't let up. Ferocious performances abound: Archie Brownlee with the Blind Boys of Mississippi, Rev. Chambers and his berserk "Me And The Devil", Sister O.M. Terrell, and best of all Rev. Charlie Jackson (who has finally been done justice by CaseQuarter, who released his early singles on CD recently). The only bump in the road is "Tell Me Why You Like Roosevelt" in two parts, which is good on its own (and who but square Republicans don't like Roosevelt anyway?) but that track doesn't fit the theme of this collection. That aside, this is a must-own disc of overwhelmingly joyous music. If you're a fan of old-school gospel you can't lose with this one.

I had 1st been given this on vinyl back when i was in college years ago. I invariably lost it and have been searching ever since. And much to my surprise here it is. A wonderful medley of very early American music.
