This book is small but mighty! There is a complete guide to peppers, and she offers a range of researched recipes, even to plan a meal from drinks through to desserts. I have tried many of the recipes and a couple have become my favorites. Spice up with peppers from mild to hot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty hot sauces, easy to follow recipes, December 8, 2010

I'd never made hot sauces before buying this book, but I've made 4 of the recipes within and loved each one!

The book has short explanations of where each recipe comes from and how it is traditionally used, as well as an overview for each hot sauce 'category'. There are also a bunch of food and drink recipes: I made the Summer Salsa del Fuego for a picnic and it was a huge hit (with those who could handle it).

I'd think someone with a lot of experience cooking with chiles would find this book too basic, but for an interested beginner like myself, it's perfect!

One word of caution is that the 3rd level of heat is (to me anyway) HOT! I've described the level of heat for the Pineapple Curry Heat Wave the first time I tried it as "Am I going to die?" hot. Used sparingly though, it's wonderful!

Very pleased with this cookbook. It provided more than just recipes-included helpful tips and a great chart about peppers and their "hotness".

Highly recommend this cookbook to those who love to cook or want to learn how to start.
