Prologue

"Puedo tener yo este baile?"

Garcelle Santos looked over her bare shoulder at the tall and handsome dark-skinned man requesting a dance at the reception of Kahron Strong and his new bride Bianca. The man was Bianca Strong's friend from Atlanta. Armand Touissant.

There was no denying the interest in his eyes but Garcelle was looking for nothing more than someone to dance and maybe laugh with. She smiled as she placed her hand in his and let him twirl her rather dramatically onto the center of the dance floor. She actually flung her head back and laughed as he pulled her body to his while Syleena's James "I'm Your Woman" played.

"You are one of the most beautiful women I`ve ever seen in my life," he whispered in her ear with his hand at the small of her back.

"Thank you," was all that Garcelle said. She hoped that was the end of the talking.

But he continued with his compliments, even trying to press Garcelle's body closer to his. She stepped back from him with a chastising smile. As they two stepped, she looked over his broad shoulder with her beautiful doe-shaped eyes. All of Holtsville was in attendance. Some faces she recognized and others she didn't.

Kahron and Bianca were dancing in a playful and sexy way together. There was no denying the love and passion. `The fire burns between them so strongly,' she thought, wishing them well as Armand guided their bodies into a series of turns.

Bianca's father Hank was dancing with that whacky Mimi. They made an odd pair with him so tall and broad while she was so petite and crazy as hell. Garcelle just shook her head at that pairing.

Kaeden and Kaleb, stood at the bar watching a pretty dark skinned beauty saunter by. Kaleb said something and both men then looked absolutely wolfish before they laughed. The Strong men really were strikingly handsome men particularly when all four of the brothers were all together. Somehow each of them made being prematurely grey hair the sexiest thing ever.

But one was missing.

The mean and sullen one.

Feeling mischievous, Garcelle's head swung to the left and then to right. How like him not to enjoy the festivities. When Armand again sent their bodies into a series of turns that drew the attention of the crowd, Garcelle caught a glimpse of silver curls and broad shoulders over in the rear of the reception tent. Alone. She whipped her head around and looked at him only to find that his intense stare was already locked on her.

Her heart raced madly.

He once angered her when he accused her of stealing. That day they had insulted each other like children and now they barely spoke to one another. But she couldn't deny that of all the sexy Strong brothers he was the most divine. And the thought of his eyes on her made her muy caliente.

The music changed to an up-tempo song and Bianca broke free of Armand's hold to grab the full skirts of her crimson dress to begin dancing the salsa all alone. Soon the dance floor cleared and she was left alone to give in to the passion and electricity of the dance. But she noticed no one. No one but Kade.

Her eyes were locked on him. Even when she spun she would stop so that she was facing him and their eyes would lock once more.

With each of her spins she found he was moving closer and closer to the edge of the dance floor.

Garcelle enjoyed the warmth of his eyes as she handled the footwork with ease as the crowd applauded her. She moved her body like a snake when need be. She circled her hips like she was working a hoola hoop. She danced like her life was dependent on it.

She danced for him and even though he stood there with his hands in his pants pocket, his face that same brooding and unchanging mask, she knew he missed not one bit of it.

When the music came to an end Garcelle spun her body across the dance floor until she came to a dramatic stop before him with her flared skirt floating in the air before it slowly drifted down around her shapely legs. Everyone applauded her but Garcelle's eyes were locked on Kade's. Pure electricity shimmied over her body. Even as she moved away from him, only casting one last look at him over her shoulder, Garcelle knew that in that one moment everything between them had changed.

The title is dead on with this one. This is the second in a series, and I thought I was in love with the other brother. I was wrong. Kade was hilarious and real. Real. The entire book was real. I love Ms. Bryant, because unlike a lot of the older writers, she writes how she talks. There are so many writers out there who are afraid to use contractions, or real curse words. They sugar coat it, "He let fly a string of expletives?" oh, you mean he curse. Well, yeah, real people do that and there isn't a narrator to bleep it out. Anyway, I digress. I loved this book. Loved it. The interactions with the characters were hilarious, eotic and real, all at the same time. Kudos.

After the death of his wife, Kade Strong has spent the last few years mourning his loss and just focusing on his work and daughter. Deciding it's time to move back into the family home he shared with his deceased wife, Kade finds himself in need of a sitter and his brother's luscious housekeeper fit the bill. Already a part of his family and loved by his daughter, Garcelle Santos is a fiery spirit who reminds him how to smile. Garcelle understands Kade isn't ready to move past his loss so she will have to not only watch out for his little girl but also keep the man-hunting vultures away from her new boss and friend.

The heat in Holtsville turns up as the single women in town come out the woodworks at the chance to catch the eldest Strong sibling. Garcelle will soon find herself under his magic spell as too much friendship and time spent as a family lead to emotions neither are sure they're ready for.

In a series based around a well-respected and loving family, the story of Kade begins with a somber note with Kade still suffering from his loss and unable to see the possibilities of a future. Hot Like Fire brings a little Latin flavor and fire to a relationship built on friendship, trust and eventually love. Garcelle is the essence of fun, a woman with a great personality, a nurturing spirit and a volcanic passion for the man she wants. Niobia Bryant created a beautiful story that was sensual but still sweet. The slow building of this relationship allowed me as a reader to see that past the lust a true connection was brewing. The backdrop of family added additional depth to this romance and the multiple side plots made an already interesting story even better. I have to give Ms. Bryant additional kudos for the personality of Kadina, Kade's daughter, who was the reason for more than a few laughs and someone I'm sure readers will fall in love with.

Hot Like Fire is a fabulous love story which is the second installment of the Strong/Hot Holtsville Series.

Kade Strong is a grieving widower that has retreated into a shell upon the death of his wife. All work, raising their daughter, and just making it through another day has been his daily routine while being assisted by his loving parents. Kade finally makes the decision to reclaim his privacy and he and Kadina move back to their home and the games begin. Garcelle is a young, vivacious family friend that likes to shake her moneymaker whenever she gets a chance. She's attending college, taking care of the men in her family, and working to pay for her education. In the midst of babysitting, she's become Kade's personal bodyguard as she matches wits with the local hoochies in their quest to scheme their way into his bed with all sorts of enticing promises of lustful tricks and treats. Due to their daily camaraderie, this pair's initial attraction blossoms and ignites into a blazing affair.

Niobia Bryant has yet again penned another best seller that not only endears the characters to your heart with a realistic view of one of life's many heartbreaks but also sprinkles the triumphant light of second chances in love and life in this brilliant series. I love the creativity portrayed in the characters, the silver-haired theme (very original), the familial first names, and how she introduces each character and their personalities. All of these things pique your interest that much more and has the readers anxiously anticipating the next installation to this series. Excellent read! Another winner to me, Ms. Bryant! Continue to shine!

Very sensual. Passion between Kade and Garcelle jumped off the pages! Liked that they became good friends before lovers. Like Garcelle, her father was a straight shooter with his words. The little girl was a sweet touch too.

I always enjoy Niobia Bryant's books and it was great revisting the Strong family. I don't even have to read the back of her books before buying. I simply pick up her books as soon as I see her name and know I will be thoroughly entertained and captivated. I wasn't disappointed and I couldn't put it down the only thing I hated was it had to end.

The book's title was definitely appropriate as Ms. Bryant put it down in her ongoing fictional Hot Holtsville series. Garcelle and Kade were a good couple, but I found the last few chapters to be redundant. I felt it took too long for the Hero to figure out that he could totally love again. With that said, it still was an excellent read and the romance totally...did I say Hot?
