Don't waste your money!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hot Mama: How to Have a Babe and Be a Babe (Hardcover)
I was looking forward to getting my hands on this book with the expectations of finding useful tips on beauty and maternity fashion. It was a big disappointment. It doesn't tell you anything that you don't already know (e.g. be proud of your voluptuous body, make the most of your glowing skin, wear cool clothes, etc.). There is no substance to how to achieve these suggestions.

Glib, superficial, and patronizing,
By Herodias Gonzo (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews

Contextually, this book little more than a glorified PowerPoint presentation. And substantively, it is chock full of glib, superficial advice freely given by someone who has no idea what she's talking about. Karen Salmansohn totally blows it in her introduction when she reveals (or at least implies) that she has never personally experienced the combined joys and nightmares of pregnancy. Guess what? I'd find her advice on wearing a bikini a lot more useful if I knew that she personally had once weighed so much that she could fight as a Light Heavyweight.

It's not what you think,
By RikaRae (Colorado, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Mama: How to Have a Babe and Be a Babe (Hardcover)
I have to agree with some other reviews here in that this book was a disappointment. I thought it was going to be a normal-sized book when I ordered it, but it actually took me about 20 minutes to read. Oh sure, it's attractive with lots of cute pictures, but if you're thinking like I was that it was going to give you lots of ideas on how to be a "Hot Mama," forget it because it just doesn't. I received no new information, which is what I normally read for, ya know. Although I do agree with the other reviews that say it would make a great baby shower gift - it is a fun little book. But there's really nothing more to say about it except if you really must read it, you could probably get it from the library and save your money.

Better as a Gift for Someone...,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hot Mama: How to Have a Babe and Be a Babe (Hardcover)
This book is cute for what it is - a GIFT BOOK. It's small in size and has lots of cute graphics. As a gift, it's a perfect little pick-me-up, but for anything else - don't bother. It's literally a 5 minute read. You won't find any information in this book that will really help you with your pregnancy - if you're buying it for yourself, do yourself a favor and spend your money on a quality pregnancy book like What to Expect When You're Expecing or even Vicki Lovine's Girlfriend Guide to Pregnancy - though, you may find the latter a bit more depressing - it's a bit TOO honest for my tastes! Especially if you're looking to feel like a HOT MAMA!

Flip Through it in Minutes,

This was more like little tidbits from magazines that had been compiled into a book. If you are looking for something light-hearted yet still gives useful information, read Vicky Iovine's "The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy". Thank goodness I only got this as a gift because it is not worth the money.

i think i saw this book advertised in a maternity magazine, thought it was cute, and bought it online...i just wish i had seen the actual book before purchasing. it is not what you think. it's tiny, not a normal size book. it also has a lot of nothing in it. i don't think i would even give it as a gift. sorry author!

Cute and corky.,

This is a very cute book. I am not saying it's an incredible manuel for pregnancy with all the answers but it's brief and simple. Also, very comedic. I had myself a few good laughs. The Authors goal seems like she just wants to help pregnant women feel confident and happy in their own skin while teaching them the basics and maybe a little more about pregnancy. Just have fun with this one. It's not ment to be taken too seriously!

Cute read for 1st time pregnancy,
This review is from: Hot Mama: How to Have a Babe and Be a Babe (Hardcover)
This was a fun book, but a someone said before, very insubstancial. Some ideas were cute, mostly about how to feel good about oneself and still be yourself despite your burgeoning belly. Cute, but better worth to be borrowed from a friend or quickly flipped through in a bookstore.

My true opinion of this little thing would need to be censored. It tells you info that women should already know, pregnant or not. This was some bull. I'm a first time mom but I'm not an idiot. Don't waste your money.

Belly Laughs is Better,
By
This review is from: Hot Mama: How to Have a Babe and Be a Babe (Hardcover)
Her idea of "Hot" isn't in line with mine. She suggests baring your belly and states that it's hotter to show belly skin than when you don't. Personally, a line of bulging belly showing doesn't make me feel hot. It makes me feel like my clothes have shrunk and I need to find something that fits better. I actually bought this for myself when I first got pregnant and was trying to get used to the idea. I agree with the other reviewers; there's very little substance in this book. If you are buying this as a gift or buying it as an easy segue into the maternity world, I'd suggest going for Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth about Pregnancy and Childbirth instead. She'll tell you what's down the pike in a way that will make you laugh out loud. Now *that's* HOT.
