Book Description

September 2006
Micki Jordan, publicist to the brightest stars in the sports world, is pleased to announce the end of her tomboy ways, effective immediately. While she will still be able to discuss the finer points of the two-man defense, Micki has transformed herself into one hot number, and she will no longer be known as "just one of the guys."

To that end, Micki is now holding tryouts for the position of new man in her new life. Current leading contender Damian Fuller is a professional ballplayer and a major league playboy. Those who would like to go head-to-head with the wildest player in the league for a chance at winning Micki's heart should apply in person . . .

Let the games begin.

From Publishers Weekly

Michelle Jordan is the Hot Zone Sports Agency's tomboyish PR exec who's as much at home on the playing field as in a locker room full of naked guys. Damian Fuller is an aging minor league center fielder with a bad wrist and a couple of seasons left of his career. The couple shared an alcohol-fueled kiss on New Year's Eve that Micki can't forget but hasn't had the guts to act on until now. So begins the second installment to Phillips's smoldering Hot Zone series, this time starring Micki, the youngest and least glamorous Jordan sister. Tired of dancing around her feelings for Damian, Micki takes a few long-overdue lessons in being a "girly girl" from her gorgeous sisters, Annabelle and Sophie. With the speed of a fast ball, Damian falls for Micki and it looks like a win/win situation, until Damian gets hit with a paternity suit by an old girlfriend. A veteran romance author who climbed to star status in Harlequin's Temptation line, Phillips is certain to capture a new bank of fans with the fresh venue and stylish dialogue featured in this perky series.

From Booklist

Micki Jordan, tomboy extraordinaire and a seasoned publicist to many big-name New York athletes, is tired of being seen only as "one of the guys." Coached by her sister, Micki goes all out with a makeover, new clothes, and a flirtatious manner to gain the attention of Damian Fuller, the handsome and charming playboy centerfielder who is the longtime focus of her romantic daydreams. When Damian is injured, she seizes the opportunity to practice her feminine wiles in Hot Number, Phillips's nicely developed contemporary romance, second in the Hot Zone trilogy. Lynne Welch

4.0 out of 5 stars Oh Micki You're So Fine!!!, July 30, 2005
Ms. Phillips has hit another winner with her second in her "Hot Series." This time we are treated to the youngest Jordan sister, Micki.

Micki is a tomboy and everyone's buddy. This is not a bad thing when you are a publicist to sports stars and you want to be taken seriously. Wait...it is a problem when the one man you want to notice you fails almost every time. Forget the fact that he gave Micki the hottest kiss she has ever received one night. Damian cleary doesn't remember it, and Micki is not going to remind him. Taking the advice of her friend Roper, and help from Sophie her sister, Micki, plans on making over herself into one "hot number" and hopefully knocking the socks off of Diamian in the process. What starts off as a good idea looks like it's going to fail until one too many iced teas' of the Long Island variety sets in motion a chain of events that will bring Damian right into her personal world. Will she have what it takes to hold on to this baseball bad boy, or will she play the part of "just a friend?"

Damian is a pro ball player. His focus is work and only work. He is at the end of his career and he doesn't need any complications to de-rail what he has going. Well, so much for best laid plans. Now he is facing the fact that he just might be a new dad, the one person he thought he was safe around, Micki, has turned into one sweet and attractive lady, who manages to pop into his head at the worst times. Oh and he can't forget the first kiss they shared. Talk about HOT!!! Now he is facing the fact that he needs to think of life after baseball and the one woman that he wants to have might just walk away from him. Or at the very least not allow herself to believe that the sports playboy has actually fallen for her. Will he be able to prove that he loves her and wants her for more than just a friend and publicist?

Damian and Micki are fun characters. Each have their own insecurities that have shaped the people that they've become. They are able to find the good in the other and complement each other. As a result of this chemistry between them, it's only a matter of time before they each fall for the other. This was a fun, fast read that fans of Ms. Phillips will enjoy greatly. I look forward to the last in the series. "Hot Number" is a read that you will want to add to your "must read list."

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Number is one hot book!, August 23, 2005

Hot number is a fun read with some hot romance!

Micki Jordan is the youngest Jordan sister, a tomboy, working at her Uncle's PR firm. She wants to attact the attention of one of her clients, a ballplayer & asks her sister to give her a makeover to become more feminine. What she doesn't realize is how he feels about her & one night lands them in a bit of trouble that ironically starts their hot romance. They are hot until she finds out a secret that may hurt their relationship, or will it bring them closer??

I absolutely loved this book & read it in two nights. I was laughing out loud at some really funny parts. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Number Shines, August 3, 2005
By
Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
Hot Number by Carly Phillips is a gem. Delightful dialogue, with hot and steamy chemistry.

Micki Jordan youngest sister in the Hot Zone PR Firm, doesn't know how to attract the man that has caught her eye. Micki has always been one of the boys, the tomboy in the family. She decided to break out of the mold and give her feminine side a try.

Damian Fuller top baseball star is at a crossroads in his life. His body isn't recovering from injuries like it used to when he was younger. He can't seem to get Micki Jordan out of his mind and this was before she decided to go girlie. Now its worse on his mind and his libido.

Just as they are connecting on a more intimate level a problem from Damian's past comes back to haunt him.

Damian and Micki both have things to work through that will make them stronger. Hot Number was a treat from page one. It was wonderful reconnecting with Micki's family members from the first book in the series Hot Shot.

Looking forward to Sophie's story.
