5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise
I first heard "Modern Swinger" on the band's Myspace page early in 2005. While I immediately fell in love with the song, I didn't get around to buying the whole album until just a few weeks ago. Call it laziness on my part. But I've now given it a few listens, and am shocked at how truly great it is. I mean, I expected a nice, enjoyable collection of jangly, retro-pop...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cold Pink
Aside from the radio friendly unit shifter "Little Razorblade," and the impossible hit "Hollywood Fix..." this album has all the aural charm of a cat in heat. Not only have they been able to make it more embarrassing to be pseudo-punk, (better known as "emo,") they've managed to put a blemish on the face of low-fi as well. That's right. This is a digital recording with...

I first heard "Modern Swinger" on the band's Myspace page early in 2005. While I immediately fell in love with the song, I didn't get around to buying the whole album until just a few weeks ago. Call it laziness on my part. But I've now given it a few listens, and am shocked at how truly great it is. I mean, I expected a nice, enjoyable collection of jangly, retro-pop tunes (probably judging by the cover). But... the jangly guitars are joined by catchy melodies and great lyrics. While very retro-pop, there are also punk elements, and the occasional entrance of heavy, chunky, emo-esque guitars, a la Death From Above 1979. Overall, it's incredible dance music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Hot Pink (Audio CD)
I absolutely love this CD. My favorite songs on the album are Little Razorblade, Modern Swinger, and Teenage Graffitti. The sound produced by this band is unique and yet addictive, and it flows easily. It's very pop-ish, and upbeat, while at the same time the lyrcis are interesting and provocative. The beats are great in almost every song. I would definitely reccomend it.¢¾

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!, May 6, 2006
This review is from: Hot Pink (Audio CD)
I am totally in love with this CD!!! Im just about the biggest MCR fan you can find buw ehn i found these guys i couldnt resist!!! all the songs except for one are extremely fast and creative! They dont keep repeating themselves and there are no filler songs!! Not a lot of people know about this band do you should get to know them soon before they become mainstream because i know they will with this kind of music!! Its upbeat and fun but still kind of emo and very rock.

Stereo Speakers-(8/10) not so much to this song but its still good. best line- They say that love is like a battlefield, i guess were out of ammunition. Fast song.

Teenage Graffiti-(10/10) very catchy. best line-weve got a world to burn. Fast song.

Knock Knock-(9/10) somewhat repetative. Best line-knock knock knock because chances are i'm with another. fast pace song.

Sham On-(9/10) really cool bass line and pickup. nice vocals. somewhat fast song (not fast not slow)

Going Steady-(10/10) Very cool chorus and really easy to remember. short song. best line-doo wah doo wah. fast song.

Hollywood Fix-(10/10) reaaly cool tune and easy song to remember. really catchy. best line-back in hollywood today techincolor turned to grey. somewhat fast song.

Modern Swinger-(15!!!/10) GREAT song. its SOOOO catchy and has the coolest chorus which says: "yeah my babys pretty as a car crash, sexy as the stinger of a hornet in your arm, just another modern swinger screaming catch me if you can with a cigarette in hand, and it's love, its heavy and it hurts and its love" very cool rhymes. its got so many oxymorons in it. great song. really cool pickup. fast song.

Talk Hard-(10/10) very catchy and fast lyrics (like the other songs) best line-operator this is urgent seems I've used too much detergent, my apartments filled with bubbles to the ceiling. somewhat fast song.

Chicago Overcoat-(9/10) really cool background music. VERY fast lyrics. i love the chorus its about a girl killing someone and its really catchy and a bit slower then the other parts of the song. best line-Run, your fingerprints are on that gun. very fast song.

Little Razorblade-(10/10) the only song on the CD with a video (for now) really catchy song. slower then the other songs. best line-dont call it a crush, baby, you know i love you too much to be crushed like that. somewhat fast song.

Soft Smoke-(9/10) very cool guitar riff. kinda repeats the chorus a lot at the end but its a good way to finish off the CD. fast song.

so overall this CD is AMAZING!! its in my top 3 CDs of all time!! buy it and you'll be happy! i think everyone will love at least one of their songs no matter what you listen to.
CD RATING: 20/10!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dude, wow..., January 13, 2005
This review is from: Hot Pink (Audio CD)
Undoubtly the single most awesomest thing to come out of nashville since ever. Undoubtly the coolest thing ever invented since sliced bread. The songs on this album, are so ridiculously good, you'll have it in rotation for quite a while. Face melting, spasm enducing, rocking goodness. Teenage Graffitti, Knock Knock, and Modern Swinger, are the key tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Painted Pink, June 22, 2006

I listen to KROQ to find new music (along with 2478937 other places) and their song "Little Razorblade" gets a lot of air time and it was just so... dancey. I think there needs to be more music like that out there, so I got the song and I dug a little deeper and now I am IN LOVE. This album rocks and when Teenage Graffiti comes out August 1st I recommend you pick up that sucka too. The album is worth the song Modern Swinger in itself. Oh yes and GO SEE THEM ON WARPED TOUR THIS SUMMER!

No seriously, this album owns you and all your earthly possessions. It's so short that you can easily listen to it 10, 15 times in one sitting. And you'll like it. Do yourself a favor and buy this rocktubular album this very instant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, February 22, 2006
This review is from: Hot Pink (Audio CD)
A very different band for the time they are playing in with all the emo and sreamo nonsense. Although very different they are an amazing band with tons of energy. Though the songs are somewhat similar they are very good and I haven't got sick of them yet.
