Just a comment,

This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
It doesn't say so in the jacket or even most reviews, but it would probably help book shoppers to know that this book is a gym-only book, for those with access to a variety of high-tech machines. There are few--and I mean FEW--exercises that use free weights and no free-weight alternatives. I'm not saying it's a bad book; it's just not for people looking for a home workout or one that uses a minimum of equipment.

Hot Point Fitness,

This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
After reading Hot Point Fitness, I got back in the gym and I have stayed at it to the present time. I liked the honesty of the author who says that there is no magic to getting fit other than going into the gym and staying on a path. This book was very easy to read and did not make any promises that a lot of other fitness books make. I found out about this book because Self Magazine had an article article about Steve Zim and Hot Point Fitness. It was entitled "Happy Nude Year". I plan on having just that. The exercises in the book were very easy to follow with pictures showing exaclty how to perform the exercises. Having this book is the like having a trainer at all times. At the beginning I took this book with me to the gym. I paid under $30.00 for this book which doesn't even cover a trainer for an hour and I never have to get a trainer as a result. The author trains pro athletes and Olympic athletes. I figured if these people who know a lot about fitness and have the money to hire anyone picks Steve Zim as their trainer, then it is good enough for me. I recommend this book to anyone going into the gym or anyone who has been going to the gym without a trainer.

The Best Work Out Book To Date,
By Sam Dillon (MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
I made a New Year's resolution and that was to get fit. My wife baught me Hot Point Fitness because she read about it in one of her women's magazines. This was the best gift I have ever received. I usually hate getting books as gifts, but this one has changed my life. I have followed the author's routines very closely and I have already changed my body shape and as a result, my life. I am less tired during the day, I have lost 15 lbs. and I have a whole new outlook on my health and fitness. I was ready to make this change on my own, but this book made it that much easier for me to do. Steve Zim knows his stuff! I recommend this book to anyone who wants to look better and change their life to a healthy one. This book was the best present I ever received!

Finally some results!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
Steve Zim, thank you. Thank you for finally PROVING which resistance exercises give you the most impact for your effort. I have read dozens of books, worked with a personal trainer, used videos - you name it. I've worked out at home, I've been in the gym and it feels like I'm accomplishing very little because the changes are small. I lose interest because I don't see results. I've seen and used recommendations for pushing to failure and that's about the only way I've seen any changes at all ...but I've not seen information like the information in Hot Point Fitness which PROVES certain exercises incorporate the body at a level where visible results are practically guaranteed if you're willing to do the work. And let's face it, many people do the work and don't get the results - it's discouraging! This is not a chatty, I'm your buddy kind of book - it's straightforward and precise and gives you the tools to finally complete the work - not only feeling stronger on the inside, but having it actually show! I don't want to look like a bodybuilder, but I do want to look like I take pride in my fitness. Bravo to Hot Point Fitness and Steve Zim...I can't wait to see what this will mean for me and other people I recommend it to in the long term!

The Way to Great Physical Shape,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
My body was in pretty good shape, but my ego wanted it to be better. I heard about "Hot Point Fitness" on a television interview with the author and it sounded like something I could do. I knew I could stand to loose a couple of inches from my waistline. I wanted to improve, but more than a trainer, I needed a mentor. My problem was like a lot of people I've seen in gymnasiums. They don't know where to start...they don't have a plan. This book gave me my plan. "Hot Point Fitness" told me exactly what to do with everything. Weights, aerobics, diet, and photos of every exercise. It was all that I needed. All I had to do was follow the instructions. "Just do it." There is a daily list of exercises. (How many days a week depends on what level you're on) I just went down the list. I didn't think, I just did it. It also tells you when you must rest and when you might be doing too much. You learn. It tells you what to eat, and how much, relative to your weight and percentage of body fat. That's important. "Hot Point Fitness" is a 12 week tutorial (like a college quarter) designed to get you into great shape. When you're finished, you know how to maintain your new physical and mental presence, and you still have the book to refer to. It's an education. If your goal is to be thin and have great muscle tone, you have to work to get there, but it's worth it. Just follow the instructions in this special, ego-gratifing book, one day at a a time. "Just do it."

A friendly and really different approach to fitness,
By Naomi Weinberger (Brooklyn, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
I've been exercising for 13 years now, 4-7 times per week and through four pregnancies, and Steve Zim's book has changed the way I think about working out. What's great about the book is its no nonsense discussion of what works-- including things you wouldn't have guessed. At the same time, the writing style strikes just the right tone: it's written in a self-depricating way that puts the reader at ease wishing that Steve Zim, who sounds like he's talking to you, were there by your side. It's a must read if you're serious about getting results.

By Joe (Concord, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
I am so happy for following the program found in Hot Point Fitness. I was burned out with previous workout routines, making NO Progress at all. I am in my 3rd week of the program, and can already tell I am making more progress than any 12 week program I have ever done. I have more energy. I am getting stronger. I never get tired of the routines.Whether you are a seasoned athlete, or just starting out as a beginner, this book has a program just for you. Each exercise gives a detailed description, as well as a picture showing you how to properly follow the routine. There are several routines, ready for any fitness level to follow. Having problems staying on that diet? The book covers a very easy to follow eating plan that anyone can follow, and stay with, for maximum results. I rate this book 5 stars out of 5!!

THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE!,
By JENNIFER PIERCE (LOS ANGELES, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
I have lost almost 30 pounds after 7 weeks on the Hot Point Fitness program. The book has become my inspiration. When I feel myself starting to slip, I simply pickup the book and read a chapter. I always seem to find some passage to keep me motivated. The fitness program is simple to follow. The pictures pretty much tell the story. The book makes it easy to stay on the food plan, even if you're single, busy with work, and constantly on the go. Hot Point has changed my life. After years of diets, I have finally been able to master my body and weight thanks to this book.

Overall, a well written fitness book.,

This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Paperback)
I had been out of shape for the last 8 years and I was looking for a good "back to the basics" book. There was this one, and Bill Phillips' "Body for Life". Motivationally, Phillips gives a great plan and writes well enough to motivate you. Zim is also very good, but not as convincing. Being a doctor, I also wanted to see if their theories made sense. Both authors agree that that resistance (weight) training helps burn fat, which is true. But the diet and aerobic instructions differ completely. Aerobically, Phillips stresses on a subjective point scale for aerobics, which really doesn't make physiologic sense. Zim, though, uses heart rate, which is universally considered the healthy way of exercising. On diet, Phillips is big on nutritional supplements, in part, because he owns a supplement company and advocates his own product. Zim goes to the basics and really doesn't advocate supplements. This is where I start trusting Zim more and Phillips less. I have done a lot of personal research on supplements (including scientific), and none have helped significantly (other than Multivitamins). But then again, there is always the placebo effect... Anyways, for the beginner, or the out of shape who forgot how to work out, an excellent book...I put it above "Body for Life". Admittedly, I am in the 8th week of Body for Life, but had to make modifications on it. Plus, I really didn't want to spend my money on supplements. After my 12 weeks, I'm switching to Zim's method.

Just the ticket for "do it yourself" fitness training.,
By Susie (Austin, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Point Fitness: The Revolutionary New Program For Fast And Total Body Transformation (Hardcover)
I was so impressed when I picked this book up off of the shelf that I sat down on the floor to read what the author had to say. I've been working out with a personal trainer for about four months and was ready to try it on my own. Being aprehensive about setting my own training schedule, I had been searching for literature to help me accomplish my new goal. I couldn't find anything that fit my needs; most of the books were for serious body builders or people just getting started with weight training. Steve Zim's book fit my needs perfectly. His descriptions and pictures are great for beginners as well as seasoned fitness enthusiasts PLUS his philosophy fits in perfectly with what my trainers have taught me about eating correctly and aerobic activity. The best part about this book is that he has three seperate sections in the back that set up a mulitude of varied weight lifting routines similar to what a personal trainer would do for you. One just needs to calculate what is a comfortable weight because he has done the rest for you. He also addresses correct eating habbits, discusses various fitness machines and the benefits of each, and includes many other helpful tips for anyone looking to improve their fitness level. This book is just what I need to make the jump to training alone!
