Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I love cowboys and writing a great cowboy hero is the most fun I've had in a long time.   When I wrote HOT QUIT I wanted to write something all my horsey friends would like.  I tried to take the excitement of cutting horses and blend it with a romance that would appeal to all readers.  I think there are a lot of readers who are looking for a traditional romance...one that they can share with their teen-age daughter or with their mother.  I hope HOT QUIT is one of those books.  I'm looking forward to the publication of my next book, and you can be sure it will have another great cowboy hero and a strong heroine.

More About the Author

It is fascinating to me that something as abstract as a feeling or emotion can be put into print form and then magically produce the same emotion when a reader reads. Bringing life to the horsey people I know and love is exciting for me and I can't wait to share heroes and heroines who live the code of the West in today's fast-paced world.

I was born in South Dakota but now live in California. I've been a horse nut from the word go, and have always been involved in some sort of horsey activity from 4-H leader, to Queen coordinator for California High School Rodeo, to team roping with her husband.

I graduated with a degree in agriculture from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, but my love of writing has led me to a Commendation by the California State Office of Emergency Services for formalizing techniques and practices in mounted search and rescue and a regional service award from the Romance Writers of America.

Whether I'm teaching beginners to ride, or teaching them to work a cow or rope, I keep an eye out for interesting things to write about. Of course, all my heroes are cowboys, all my women are strong, and all my romances have traditional values at heart.

I like this book. First time reading Kathryn Roberts and look forward to reading more.
I like modern western style stories. And of course the reluctant romance with the happy ending.

This book was a fun read with all sorts of details about cutting horses and competitions woven into a roller coaster love story. The author obviously knows horses and business. It's a book you pick up and want to finish the same day because it flows so well. The main characters were well defined and I believe the self absorbed qualities of the heroine were an essential part of the story.

She writes a good book.....it really needed a little more meat to it and longer. It flowed well. I liked both main characters but she really seemed a bit self absorbed.

The story was rather boring as it was so predictable and, unfortunately, the author does not write well enough to hold ones interest. My feeling was that none of the characters was very well developed. Towards the end the author does fill in a few blanks but in such a way that isn't very compelling which is too bad as I felt I could have been an interesting read. The background was about cutting horse competition, but I never felt there was enough information explaining about the sport. The ending seemed to be wrapped up neatly without giving much detail about how the main characters would work out their different backgrounds. I doubt I will purchase another book by this author.

The author does a beautiful job of showing the developing relationship between Alex and Jackson. She also gives the reader an informed look into the world of corporate raiders. When Jackson proposes at the end of the novel the writing is very moving and beautiful. I give it five stars. SHEILA HUNTINGTON, author of MORNING GLORY WOMAN.

This book was okay. It kept my interest but I wasn't completely engulfed into the book. There were some weird phrases and details that didn't match. My favorite part was all the crazy sayings that Everett came up with like "I'm so hungry I could eat a folded tarp."

Great story for horse lovers. She takes the reader into the world of Cutting Horse Competition. I loved the detailed discriptions. Also an excellent read for those who just like a good romance. This story actually keeps your interest in the characters. It doesn't rely on steamy sex scenes to carry the reader through the story. Too many fiction stories do that. I look forward to this authors next book.
