This review is from: Hot Rod Twangin' (Audio CD)
Jerry cole was/is a great L.A. session musician, who has played with everybody from The Beach Boys, to Elvis and Frank Sinatra. He also released some albums back in the early 60's on the low-budget L.A. Crown label (which was owned by the Bihari Brothers, who also owned the Modern label). These albums were usually sold in the supermarket in the 99 cent bin, they had pictures of hot rods and custom cars on them, and had names like The Hot Rodders, The Scramblers, The Winners, and The Blasters. This CD features 24 cuts from those old albums, they are all 60's instrumental hot rod music, complete with the sound of engines revving inthe background of the songs. Another good CD to get is Jerry Cole and his Spacemen, which is more surf music oriented.
