Not as good as the previous Silk novel, December 2, 2008
I had hoped Sharon Page's next installment in her silk series would be as good as her last but this story lacks the charm and emotional depth of the previous novel.
That being said this book has an original surprising opening; Grace Hamilton is seduced by Lord Wesley and then viscously discarded by him. She is devastated and all this happens in the first chapter. She is rescued from certain scandal by Lord Wesley's half illegitimate brother Devlin Sharpe who is at his family's seat spying on his brother.
Devlin is an enigma and remained so throughout the novel. His does not seem to be recognized by his father and his family but has undue influence over them, I am not really sure how he manages this as he is a former pirate and is now a modern day Robin Hood Highwayman. He sort of bursts on the scene and Grace suddenly knows everything about him and within a few minutes of meeting him decides to sleep with him after her debacle with his brother. Grace is ever impetuous; almost all her decisions have no thought for consequences
They are reunited two years later when Devlin robs her coach and takes her as a hostage. She is unhappy at first about her circumstances; she is on her way to meet her titled grandmother who has finally deigned to acknowledge her. Devlin is living in a nice home which is filled with his men and their women all engaged in various hedonistic acts.
Devlin claims he cannot forget Grace ( I never knew why) and she says she cannot forget him (ditto for Grace's feelings too). Grace spends a few days with him and they revel in their new found intimacy but very little emotional connection happens during these scenes and even in later ones when Grace is delivered to her grandmother. Devlin is protective of Grace but just cannot give up his exciting life of crime for her.
Grace wants more and is in many ways braver than Devlin who does not risk emotional loss like Grace does. Devlin is blind when it comes to not only his emotions and motivations but to other people's as well. He never recognized when someone really loved him or where real danger lied. Even though this couple could communicate physically they just never seemed to emotionally.

Grace Hamilton is sorely tempted when the handsome Lord Wesley propositions her. He has spent an entire week wooing her, and she finds him very attractive. Lord Wesley promises marriage and seduces Grace, and she gives him her virginity. Then he laughs and says he had no intention of marrying her. She overhears him say it was part of a wager to deflower one hundred gently bred virgins by Christmas. She knows she's completely ruined. Feeling devastated, she runs into Devlin Sharpe, a known highwayman and pirate and Lord Wesley's illegitimate half brother, and he promises he'll take care of protecting her reputation. She asks him to help her forget the humiliation she has just suffered, and they make love. He offers to help her monetarily, but pride and propriety make her refuse, and as she's leaving the house party in disgrace, she tells him she can never see him again.
Two years later, Devlin still can't get Grace Hamilton out of his head. He finally hijacks her carriage and kidnaps her, just because he wants to be with her.
Grace decided years ago that she must marry a title to save the family. Her beauty is her greatest tool. Her family history is full of scandal. Falling in love with this rogue would be unforgivably scandalous. But she can't help herself, and neither can he. But what can he do to make himself worthy of her love?
I didn't like Grace as much as I like her sisters, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this delightfully lusty book by Sharon Page. Grace spends a lot of energy worrying about her reputation and being accepted by the ton. She's young and impulsive, and indecisive. She wants Devlin desperately one minute, then regrets her actions the next. I found myself feeling like she didn't deserve the love and devotion of such a good man. But it's not really Grace's fault that she was born into a society where a woman's reputation and social standing were the primary indicators of her worth.
I didn't feel the tension and danger in Hot Silk as clearly as I did in the first two books of the series, but it was filled with sincere emotion and lots of hot sex. You'll definitely want to read all three books in this passion-filled series.
4 Kisses, 2 Peppers (light bondage, graphic sex)

Last in series...but not least, May 22, 2009
Another Hit. I really enjoyed this. Just as I have enjoyed the 1st and 2nd books from this series. Great chemistry bewteen the hero (Devlin) and heroine (Grace). Good plot. Extremely hot, sexy and sensual love scenes. SHARON PAGE HAS A GREAT WAY OF HAVING WONDERFUL PLOTS THAT DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE ROMANCE IN A STORY. I can honestly say, "this is one of the best eroctic romance series are have ever read."
