Not as good as the previous Silk novel,
By
This review is from: Hot Silk (Paperback)
I had hoped Sharon Page's next installment in her silk series would be as entertaining as her previous story but this tale lacks charming characters and emotional depth.
That being said this book has an original surprising opening; Grace Hamilton is seduced by Lord Wesley and then viciously discarded by him. She is devastated and all this happens in the first chapter. She is rescued from certain scandal by Lord Wesley's half illegitimate brother Devlin Sharpe who is at his family's seat spying on his brother. Devlin is an enigma and remained so throughout the novel. He does not seem to be recognized by his father but Devlin does have undue influence over family members and I am not really sure how he manages this as he is a former pirate and is now a modern day Robin Hood Highwayman. He sort of bursts on the scene and Grace suddenly knows everything about him and within a few minutes of meeting him decides to sleep with him after her debacle with his brother. Grace is ever impetuous; almost all her decisions have no thought for consequences. The leads are reunited two years later when Devlin robs Grace's coach and takes her as a hostage. She is unhappy at first about her circumstances; she was on her way to meet her titled grandmother who had finally deigned to acknowledge her. Devlin is living in a nice home which is filled with his men and their women all engaged in various hedonistic acts. Devlin claims he cannot forget Grace (I never knew why) and she says she cannot forget him (ditto for Grace's feelings too). Grace spends a few days with Devlin and they revel in their new found intimacy but very little emotional connection happens during these scenes. Devlin is protective of Grace but just cannot give up his exciting life of crime for her. Grace wants more and is in many ways braver than Devlin who does not risk emotional loss like Grace does. Devlin is blind when it comes to not only his emotions and motivations but to other people's as well. He never recognized when someone really loved him. Even though this couple could communicate physically they just never seemed to emotionally.

Grace Hamilton is sorely tempted when the handsome Lord Wesley propositions her. He has spent an entire week wooing her, and she finds him very attractive. Lord Wesley promises marriage and seduces Grace, and she gives him her virginity. Then he laughs and says he had no intention of marrying her. She overhears him say it was part of a wager to deflower one hundred gently bred virgins by Christmas. She knows she's completely ruined. Feeling devastated, she runs into Devlin Sharpe, a known highwayman and pirate and Lord Wesley's illegitimate half brother, and he promises he'll take care of protecting her reputation. She asks him to help her forget the humiliation she has just suffered, and they make love. He offers to help her monetarily, but pride and propriety make her refuse, and as she's leaving the house party in disgrace, she tells him she can never see him again.
Two years later, Devlin still can't get Grace Hamilton out of his head. He finally hijacks her carriage and kidnaps her, just because he wants to be with her. Grace decided years ago that she must marry a title to save the family. Her beauty is her greatest tool. Her family history is full of scandal. Falling in love with this rogue would be unforgivably scandalous. But she can't help herself, and neither can he. But what can he do to make himself worthy of her love? I didn't like Grace as much as I like her sisters, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this delightfully lusty book by Sharon Page. Grace spends a lot of energy worrying about her reputation and being accepted by the ton. She's young and impulsive, and indecisive. She wants Devlin desperately one minute, then regrets her actions the next. I found myself feeling like she didn't deserve the love and devotion of such a good man. But it's not really Grace's fault that she was born into a society where a woman's reputation and social standing were the primary indicators of her worth. I didn't feel the tension and danger in Hot Silk as clearly as I did in the first two books of the series, but it was filled with sincere emotion and lots of hot sex. You'll definitely want to read all three books in this passion-filled series. 4 Kisses, 2 Peppers (light bondage, graphic sex) ~Lindy Reviewer, TwoLips Reviews, LLC [...]

The blurb on the Hot Silk page reads, "Strong, character-driven romance. . .touching and emotional. . .extremely sensual and erotic." --Romantic Times". But that "praise" is for the author's books in general, not this particular novel, so beware.
Hot Silk was just the opposite; the characters were almost charicatures, the plot was uneven, the heroine was a twit (I want to, I shouldn't have, I want to, I shouldn't have, I want to, I ....etc.). I don't think it was particulary sensual although it was very graphic. Less than a third of the way through (I kept hoping it would get better)I no longer cared if they were together or not because there was little that was "touching" or "emotional" about their relationship. How can a hero be a pirate and a highwayman and still be uninteresting? Read Hot Silk and you'll get the picture. I downloaded the sample, thought it was going somewhere and ordered the book. Unfortunately, I began to read it after the time alloted for returns on Kindle books. I also downloaded a kindle sample of Black Silk, but I'm gun-shy now re: this author. I find erotica with little romance a torturous, boring read but an erotic romance is a fave of mine and not an easy thing to pull off. I am glad for those of you who enjoyed the book, though. She has lots of fans so she must be doing something right. Di

Another Hit. I really enjoyed this. Just as I have enjoyed the 1st and 2nd books from this series. Great chemistry bewteen the hero (Devlin) and heroine (Grace). Good plot. Extremely hot, sexy and sensual love scenes. SHARON PAGE HAS A GREAT WAY OF HAVING WONDERFUL PLOTS THAT DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE ROMANCE IN A STORY. I can honestly say, "this is one of the best eroctic romance series are have ever read."

Hot Silk,
This review is from: Hot Silk (Paperback)
Grace Hamilton was looking for a husband and thought she had found him. However, when he takes advantage of her innocence and she finds out she was the subject of a bet, she is distraught. Devlin Sharpe, pirate and highwayman, is there to comfort her, and in a spontaneous decision, she has a passionate night with him.
Two years later, he is still thinking of her and when the opportunity arises, he kidnaps her, intent on making up for lost time. He wants to give her as many nights of erotic and hot sex as he possibly can. And as much as Grace may want to deny that part of her, she desires him and enjoys herself when making love with Devlin. Hot Silk is sizzling! The sex is hot, creative and descriptive. Ms. Page not only delivers the sex, the story surrounding it is enjoyable, as well. I love historical romance, and the sex just made it hotter. If you like your erotica wide-ranging and full of details, this book is for you! Niki Lee Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

A Sexy Ending...,
By
This review is from: Hot Silk (Paperback)
Miss Grace Hamilton gave herself to a perfect stranger after a humiliating scene earlier in the evening two years past. She has not been able to get her time spent with Highway Man/Pirate Devlin Sharpe out of her mind. He touched more than her body that night. But, Grace is hungry to be accepted by London society and she knows that her actions two years earlier have put that at risk. What she doesn't know is that Devlin hasn't forgotten about her and he has plans, which, include kidnapping her so they may spend time together. What starts off as a way of passing time, turns into a sensual experience that neither one of them counts on. But will Devlin be willing to give up his passion for danger and will Grace be willing to overlook the fact that the love of her life is wanted by the Crown? Can these two wounded souls really find a happy ending?
This was the third installment in the Silk series which started off with the title Sin. This was a fair ending to a series I have enjoyed greatly. Ms. Page is a very sensual author, managing to not only keep the storylines entertaining and engaging, but also keeping the heat at a amazingly erotic levels without cheapening the storyline. Ms. Page is one author I highly recommend if you want heat and romance in a romance book.

superb erotic Regency romance,
This review is from: Hot Silk (Paperback)
Grace Hamilton believes a good marriage to a wealthy kind hearted aristocrat is her ticket amongst the Ton. However that means hiding her past especially her family from men interested in her. However, she finds gentlemen are a sham with one thing on their minds. Pirate and highwayman Nigel Sharpe rescues her from an untenable situation and they end up making love.
Two years later, neither has forgotten that one night of bliss. Devlin decides to use his nefarious skills to kidnap Grace. He succeeds in snatching her though she is a bit willing; they share a heavenly interlude until their tryst is disrupted when he is wounded and an odious thug abducts his Grace. The third Hamilton sister superb erotic Regency romance (see BLACK SILK and SIN) is a superb tale starring two likable lead characters and a nasty villain. The stars of the previous Hamilton sagas make appearances, but HOT SILK belongs to Grace and Nigel. Readers will appreciate their sexual encounters vividly described by Sharon Page, but it is the abduction and attempted rescue that make this a torrid historical page turner (just wear gloves).
