Many people that know Scorpions only know of their "mercury years." (The albums they released here in the states.) Well you've got another thing coming. The scorpions with Klauss Meine, and Uli Roth created some of the hottest tunes while establishing their career in Germany. This collection of their greatest hits from the early years (70's) includes some of their finest work like "Pictured Life," Robot Man," In Trance," "Virgin Killer," "Yellow Raven," etc. If you like scorpions American debut albums like Blackout, Savage Amusement, and Pure Instinct, I strongly urge you to get their early albums. Its heavy-metal at its finest. This album is a perfect place to start because it will give you samples from their early years. So Enjoy!

70's Scorps,

For those who are not sure whether to buy this compilation of seventies Scorpions? Here's some help.
Tracks 1-5 are taken from the 1974 album "Fly To The Rainbow". Tracks 6-11 are taken from the 1975 album "In Trance". Tracks 12-17 are taken from the 1976 album "Virgin Killer". One thing I don't understand is how come this compilation did not feature anything from "Taken By Force" and "Tokyo Tapes-Live" (both released in 1978)? I mean it was the Scorpions last two albums on RCA before signing to Mercury to make "Lovedrive" (1979). As for the sound quality? The sound is pretty good. Don't expect Rhino Records remastering sound. Remember these songs were made in the mid seventies. Highlight rockers off this album : "Speedy's Coming", "Virgin Killer" and "Catch Your Train"

As I've written in other reviews of CD's released that contain songs from their past, the songs are outstanding, and a good representation of their roots, but its release wasn't necessary to hold their fans over until they released an all NEW CD. It's a money making proposition for the band. That said, I still bought it to add to my collection of their body of work and to encourage the band (via record sales) to keep rockin'!
