I have largely made it through grad school by ingesting large numbers of Hot Tamales. This candy is no-fat, cinnamon-spiced deliciousness in the most desirable form imaginable.

As I work on my thesis today (currently on break for some Amazon reviewing), I am sitting here eating from my 5 pound bag of Hot Tamales, purchased by my best friend and grad school partner-in-crime, who thought I needed a little pick-me-up. She was, as usual, correct, and this is just the kick I needed.

We both noted when we opened up the bag, that the candy was much fresher than it normally is out of a cardboard box. We had never really considered that before, but the bag obviously serves as an airtight barrier to seal in the tangy freshness of the Hot Tamales.

These are a wonderful use of sugar, and are one of my favorite foods on the planet. The 5 pound bag contains a lot of Hot Tamales, although I find the price a bit steep here. My friend was able to purchase this same bag for a lower price at a local store, so perhaps shopping around could pay off for you as well.

Regardless of price, these are great candies that pack a spicy kick, especially coming out of a hermetically sealed bag!

I'm not a big fan of most vegetables; they're too starchy, too crunchy, and on the whole not very tasty. Thankfully there are Hot Tamales, the perfect alternative to broccolli, spinach, and all those other less than optimal green veggies. Unlike veggies, Hot Tamales don't taste terrible--they're nice and sweet with a hot burst of cinnamon. Additionally, they never get stuck between your teeth. They may put you in the mood for some lovin though so be sure to share them with your significant other when you're feeling in the mood (this statement has not been evaluated by the surgeon general or FDA--use at your own risk!).

So if you want a tasty snack that's as far away from a vegetable as possible, choose these red chewy pills of goodness.

My wife and I have been going through these 5 (4.5) pound bags of Hot Tamales for years. Last weekend when my sweetie and I were snuggled down for a movie afternoon, our fussy 1 year old grand-daughter came shuffling in and saw the candy which we kept hiding from her. Finally she got a piece and we started laughing, sure that she would spit it out on the bed spread, when a huge grin lit up her face and she started looking for more. I guess it's genetic!

If you like cinnamon candy, Hot Tamales are great, and these big bags are the best way to get them fresh and chewy!

I love Hot Tamales, but I went to Sam's Club today and bought a 4.5lb bag for $6.88. It was a free weekend for those without memberships to shop, but you can get a membership for $40/yr. If you're going to buy groceries in bulk, you're wasting your money doing it online. Just a money-saving tip ...
