Hot on a thing,

This review is from: Hot on a Thing (Audio CD)
This is one of those classic late 70's early 80's soul albums often overlooked when a group has peaked. All the unique Eugene Record style and Chi-Lites sound is there, in the usual, beautifully subtle delivery we have grown to know and love. If you are a Chi-Lites fan this is worthy of you collection and you will will enjoy the 'Try my side (of love)' track, which is my personal favorite from this set. For those of you new to Chi-Lites this is a fine album of it's time but perhaps a little dated for a younger audience brought up on hip-hop and garage. If you want to hear how things were done in years gone by when singing was more important than computers making today's average or bad singers sound good, then here is one of many groups from a world of true soul.
Enjoy

I have been a fan of the Chi Lites since I was a kid. I remember hearing "Have You Seen Her" and "Oh Girl" over and over again. My mom/ dad were BIG Chi Lites fans. In fact, I remember a picture that my mom took w/ the group when they performed in Tampa, FL back in the early 70s. I must admit that I had never heard "Hot on a Thing" until this CD. Man, talk about a nice groove...the minute I played it, I was sold on it. It has such a nice melody and great words too. I have since played the song for two good friends of mine, and they too have been sold on it. This song will definitely be played at my next "Bluelights in the Basement" house party!!!

All songs here are great!!! This album contains many tracks of 2 albums by Chi-lites: Heavenly Body and Me and You (both off catalogue). The sounds is great and clear. The vocal perfect! It was arranged and produced almost whole by Earth Wind and Fire, so do you remember that sound? Many songs reminds the Earth Wind Fire style, with the supperb vocal of Chi-lites, imagine, pure excelent music.
Highly Recomended. You will have great pleasure moment with that great romantic and grooving music.

RIP to Eugene Record. this was One of my jams from back in the day. if you went to a local club or past through a slot machine at a local spot and this jam came on then you got your Groove on. I dig the way it starts off with that Bass and the overall Groove. this is one of those songs that takes me back and brings back so many good cool memorys. talking to a chick, eating some now and laters and Grooving to this Jam. Hot,Hot, Hot on a thang.
