5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient and effective
I have very fine, very straight, limp and thick hair. After years of struggling with round brushes and curling irons, I decided to go back to hot curlers. This set has two advantages over my previous efforts with hot rollers: it has storage for the clips so you don't have to keep track of them, and the curlers don't burn your fingers or scalp. 3.0 out of 5 stars SLOW,SLOW,SLOW
I'm a very long time electric roller user. The Hot Tools Hot Setter works fine if you have A LOT of patience. They take forever to heat. So long that I wondered if the dots on the rollers had malfunctioned. They don't seem to change colors gradually, but turn completely--eventually. I haven't found the rollers get too hot to the touch. I am a fan of the rollers with...

I feared that they wouldn't be hot enough to curl my stubborn hair. But, leaving them in for 30 minutes while I did other morning chores, does the trick. The number and sizes of the rollers are just what I need. I do use setting sprays along with it, and the curls last beautifully. It might make curls that are too tight for someone whose hair is easier to curl than mine. But leaving them in a shorter length of time should take care of that problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr., January 23, 2008
I was very pleased with the style and convenience. It is also one of the few sets that include holders for the various size clips. It also replaces a similar model which was purchased under the Vidal Sassoon name.

Helen of Troy Electric Hot Rollers are superior to any that I have used and this is the second set that I have owned. Very excellent product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Curlers are too hot, November 11, 2006

My wife has a Clairol hairsetter no longer made that is well designed--the curlers don't burn the fingers when picked up by their edges. We ordered this product based on both the previous review and product description. Alas, the curlers were too hot for her fingers, so the unit was returned to Cosmetic Solutions. They get 5 stars for service. Not only did they not bat an eyelash even though the unit had been used once, but they refunded the original shipping cost.

I got these for my wife for Christmas, because her original set, 25 years old, bit the dust. She likes them very much.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, January 12, 2010
Rollers not as advertised. Only 8 medium size instead of 10. Two extra medium enclosed but without clips. Takes forever to heat. Not as hot as my old Vidal Sassoon and red dot changes color only slightly to darker red to indicate ready. Would like to return if I could figure out how!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect set, September 18, 2010

From a cosmetologist point of view, perfect choice for a home set of hot rollers. I read one review and they said the rollers were too hot to handle, their HOT ROLLERS! They need to be hot to do their job.

These rollers do only what you expect. It's like what you see is what you get. As long as you know how to use them, you will get soft wavy curls. Very easy to use and take off.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hot Tools Setter 20 rollers, February 1, 2010

Takes a little time to heat but I usually apply my makeup while it is heating. I like the 20 rollers--need that amount to set my full head. However, it doesn't curl the hair that tightly and you have to leave the rollers in for a few minutes so the curl doesn't fall out.

Also, the sizes of the rollers are distributed in an uneven manner. I had to make a diagram so I could put them back in the right order. It's good for the price but I would go with something better.
