Red-Hot Raves for the novels of Louisa Edwards

TOO HOT TO TOUCH“Too Hot to Touch is a satisfying, emotional and touching read.” –Read, React, Review

“Jules and Max scorch the pages…very well written characters with flaws, issues and depth.” –Badass Book Reviews

“I loved this book. It was funny, sexy, the love story was touching, and the characters were likeable. As a fan of contemporary romance, this is exactly what I’m looking for when I buy a book. I can’t wait to read the next installment. This one is a keeper so don’t waste more time and go get it!” –Romance Around The Corner

“If you like food, televised food shows (especially the popular Bravo series "Top Chef") and books with happy endings, you're in for a treat.” –Go San Angelo Standard Times

“Scorching romance and delicious passions ignite behind the scenes of a high-stakes culinary competition. Today's hottest chefs vie for fame, fortune . . . and each other's hearts.” –Fresh Fiction

“Yowza! There's nothing like romance in the kitchen to get juices pumping and hearts pounding, especially when the writing sizzles like it does in Edwards' latest.” –All About Romance

“Every woman who’s made the painful discovery that great sex is not enough to make a man realize he’s in love will sympathize. Too Hot to Touch flips the power balance.” –BN.com Romance Reviews

“I enjoyed the banter between all the characters. We get a little hint as to who Danny’s heroine will be as his book will pick up where this one leads off.  It's overall an enjoyable read, and I'll be picking up Danny's book when it comes out.” –Happily Ever After Reads

From the Back Cover

Loaded with the hottest dishes and sexiest chefs, the Rising Star Chef competition is about to boil over for one pair of all-star cooks who can’t stand the heat—of working so close together…

SHE’S THE ONE HE LEFT BEHIND

Henry Beck thought he’d already faced the toughest kitchen challenge of his life. After all, what could top sweating it out as a Navy cook on a submarine? But when he learns his competition for the title of Rising Star Chef is the sweet hippie girl he married…and left…ten years ago, the heat is on.

HE’S THE ONE SHE CAN’T FORGET

Now Beck and Skye Gladwell are going head to head in the finals…and sparking up old flames every time they touch. But Skye wants more than a win over the man who abandoned her when she needed him most—she wants a divorce! Then her sexy almost-ex makes a deliciously dangerous proposition. He’ll give in to her demands, but if his team wins the RSC, he has a demand of his own…one last taste of the only woman he ever loved.

“There’s nothing like romance in the kitchen to get juices pumping and hearts pounding, especially when the writing sizzles like it does in Edwards’ latest. She’s nothing if not a yummy author!” —All About Romance

I cried through every page.

Skye deserved that happiness and I was glad to see that Beck was able to make up for his past mistakes to show Skye that he has always loved her.

Henry Beck and Skye Gladwell are the final two in the Rising Star Chef competition, each representing their restaurants for the prestige award. Beck and Skye also have personal history for they are still married after ten years and Skye wants Beck to finally grant her a divorce. He will, on one condition, that she spends one last night with him if his team wins the competition. Skye agrees to his proposition just to prove that she no longer has feelings for the man that left her with a broken heart. Beck, on the other hand, wants one more opportunity to convince Skye that he still loves her and they should try to mend their broken relationship. With the competition and his relationship at stake, Beck will have to present the most wonderful culinary dishes the judges have ever seen or risk losing everything that he has ever cared about.

This is the third and final book in the Rising Star Chef competition and I have to say that this one is my favorite. Beck has been this silent, brooding character known as the strong backbone of the Lunden's team, who always seemed to come up with these wonderful culinary masterpieces that helped in the competition. I was so glad that I finally was able to learn his back-story and how he was connected to the attractive chef, Skye. I was shocked to discover that these two were still married and throwing the two into this competition made them deal with emotions that both of them were suppressing for ten years. Skye was such a sweet character that has been dealing with the pain of love lost when Beck left her ten years ago to join the Navy. After one fateful day, Skye never heard from Beck again and she was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart.

Louisa Edwards saved the best for last in this amazing "Hot" Rising Star Chef trilogy. Henry Beck and Skye Gladwell are perfect together - absolutely sizzling with chemistry and full of emotion. This is the best kind of reunion romance, when you can still feel the love they never quite buried and get a glimpse into the history that brought them together and tore them apart. And speaking of being torn apart, get ready to cry your ever-lovin' eyes out. This story is an emotional rollercoaster and I absolutely loved the ride. Ms. Edwards writes with so much depth and paints such a vivid picture with every word. The characters pop, the pace is perfect, and this could be my favorite romance of the year so far. Wow. What's next?

I'm a huge Edwards fan and have read all of her books. So I was very excited to read Hot Under Pressure. I swear, she keeps getting better with every book. What makes this one stand out for me from the rest of the series is that I felt she really got very deep in the relationship between Beck and Skye while still keeping all the fun cooking competition in it. There is so much going on between Beck and Skye and you get drawn into their lives. I also love that Skye is a real woman both in the physical sense and her emotional presence. And Beck is wow. Is it just me or did he get even hotter this book than he was before?? The ending is truly a work of genius. I adored Beck and going with him on his emotional journey was worth every page. What a love story! I was literally crying on the elliptical machine while reading it. The book was so good, I didn't even mind getting in my workout. I think Edwards can do anything she puts her mind to, the sky is the limit for her. I can't wait to read what is next. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who loves contemporary romance and those who love all things culinary. I only wish I could give it SIX STARS instead of five.

The competition may be about who is the greatest chef, but with Henry Beck and Skye Gladwell it is also about healing deep wounds. Beck and Skye seemed to throw their love away but neither of them really ever walked away. Both of them have been running from childhood trauma and past imperfections but always believed they were at their best when they were together. It has been ten rocky years of building a life while living apart. All it takes is one kiss proves time is on their side not fighting against them.

While the cooking competition gets intense the attraction Beck and Skye have for each is showing it never went away. With each signature dish they prepare, they show off more of the hidden secrets inside that no one should see. Life is far from perfect and these two show how those imperfections can be whipped into one flawless soufflé.

Louisa Edwards knows how to combine the perfect ingredients to make the relationship sizzle, and the story hot. Even the secondary characters are lighting up the night, good work indeed.

In the final book of the "Rising Star Chef" trilogy, Henry Beck presumably thought he'd already faced the toughest kitchen challenge of his life. Who could top sweating it out as a Navy cook on a submarine? However, when he learns his competition is none other than the sweet hippie girl he'd married ... and left ...ten years ago, the heat is on! Beck and Skye are going head to head into the finals and though they both want to win....it's much more personal to Skye to win over Beck, the man who abandoned her when she'd needed him most. PLUS, now she wants a divorce!''

*** The Rising Star Chef trilogy from romance author Louisa Edwards has been a remarkable and fun series. The finale, or last book of a trilogy, where presumably an author reveals the character who has been a big mystery all through the series is then revealed answering a plethora of questions that anyone reading the first two books (TOO HOT TO TOUCH and SOME LIKE IT HOT) had wondered at. Needless to say, whether reading this series in order, or not, you can simply enjoy them one at a time in any order - they're stand alone. However, I am something of a purist in my reading and if at all, I always like to read my series in order.''With that said, I did like this last book featuring the quiet, mysterious Henry Beck aka, just Beck.

In all the other books he was the laid back guy that was right there supporting the kitchen crew and adding his own spin to things to help beat the competition, in the Rising Star Chef competition. Now in HOT UNDER PRESSURE (Everytime I see this title I keep thinking of my `pressure cooker' LOL) Beck has been like the go-to-guy whereby adding enormous strength to the overall team.

More About the Author

"My favorite thing about romance is that it's like real life - but the way you wish life could be."
- Louisa Edwards

Louisa Edwards grew up in Virginia, surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. By age 11, she was sneaking Harlequins out of her visiting grandmother's suitcase, making her parents nervous about what, precisely, their little girl was learning from those books. Naturally, they were relieved when Louisa decided to attend Bryn Mawr College, hoping the Seven Sisters vibe might instill the intellectual rigor she thus far seemed to lack.

To their dismay, however, even the ivy-covered halls of Bryn Mawr couldn't distract Louisa from her addiction to romances. Instead, she traded in her Harlequins for longer, juicier single titles, reading everything from Laura Kinsale to Jennifer Cruisie. She also managed to graduate cum laude with a degree in Romance Languages (which is not as sexy as it sounds - mostly she studied Spanish, French, and Italian literature, although some of that French stuff did get fairly racy.)

After graduation, Louisa moved to Manhattan, landing a job as an editorial assistant at Penguin Group (USA), where she worked directly for the smart, savvy president of Mass Market Paperbacks, Leslie Gelbman, who guided Louisa as she built her own list.

Vindication! It was possible to make a living from reading romance novels. Louisa's parents were equal parts surprised and thrilled. While at Berkley, Louisa was lucky enough to work with some great authors, assistant editing Leslie's heavy hitters, Nora Roberts and Jayne Ann Krentz. Louisa's own list included, among others, Lucy Monroe, Jennifer St. Giles, and Shelley Bradley. All of which led to Louisa being promoted to assistant editor.

Then real life romance ensued: Louisa married a journalist and was promptly exiled to Ohio so her husband could work for his family's newspaper. There Louisa started reviewing romances for FreshFiction.com and took a part-time job at the Culinary Vegetable Institute. Personal interaction with chefs, plus the limited repertoire of local restaurants stoked Louisa's interest in food. She began critiquing restaurants for the local newspaper, got sucked into Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, trailed a chef friend at his restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina, started cooking her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and decided to bring it all together by writing CAN'T STAND THE HEAT.

Now she awaits the response of the masses to her foodie-inspired romance. Meanwhile, Louisa will continue to eat in as many wonderful restaurants as possible - purely for research, of course.
