Denver Westmoreland are hot!,
By Linda Y "always reading" (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Westmoreland Nights (Harlequin Desire) (Kindle Edition)
Ms. Jackson introduces us to the Denver Westmoreland's with book 2 featuring (Ramsey & Chloe) and boy was it hot! Sheep herder Ramsay mistakenly assums Chloe is the hired cook sent by temp agency, when she is there to ask him face to face to pose for her magazine after he's turned her down numerous times. They had great chemistry, their interactions were steamy and the ending wasn't long and drawn out! A great, quick read I'd recommend!

I am a new reader of Ms Jackson after reading this book I am a fan and have purchased several additional books. My enjoyment of this author is that she creates the visual beauty of the Black Women's worth and her strength to be loved in her own skin. I love that she shows her readers that African Americans families can come from wealth and class and knows how to obtain and maintain that standard. A refreshing read from the church pastors with lose morals stories.

The Heat Just Isn't In The Kitchen,

Chloe Burton made up her mind the moment she laid eyes on the handsome Ramsey Westmoreland. She's going to get him to pose for the cover of Simply Irresistible magazine. Only thing is, the sheep rancher said no way and meant it. Chloe has to resort to plan B. She plans to convince him herself. Well, instead of getting him to pose for the cover, Chloe lands a job as the cook for him and his ranch hands for two weeks. Now she has to live in the same house with the good-looking Ramsey, under his intense scrutiny while hiding a slight untruth.
HOT WESTMORELAND NIGHTS is a very nice page sizzler. I am not a romance buff by a long shot, but Brenda Jackson can get me every time. It is something about her writing style and her handling of romance between a man and woman in an unusual circumstance or an unusual place that really gets your imagination flowing and restores the dreaminess back to your eyes. The two main characters had so much chemistry that it literally popped off the page. The other characters were equally impressive and obviously have stories of their own just waiting on Jackson's pen. My only complaint is, it just wasn't long enough. If you can't stand the heat!,
By Marilyn Shoemaker (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hot Westmoreland Nights (Silhouette Desire) (Mass Market Paperback)
Hot Westmoreland Nights was just that hot and author Brenda Jackson did an excellent job portraying one hot rancher and one beautiful woman and owner of Denver's Simply Irresistible magazine. I love cowboy, rancher stories and especially stories involving large families. I hadn't read any of the Westmoreland series and now I'm hooked. Ramsey Westmoreland is one sexy sheep rancher and Chole Burton wants to put him on the cover of her magazine. Of course he says no, ranching is his profession and he's trying to make it a success. Ramsey is one serious dude but you can't blame him for that. On top of raising his siblings due to the death of their parents and he's mistrusting because years earlier he was left at the altar. Chloe Burton is definitely not interested in having a man in her life. She had one and dumped him after a disastrous relationship. The only man in her life is her father, Florida state Senator Burton. However, Ramsey stirs something in her so she decides after his refusal to be on the cover of her magazine to personally meet him and request again. However, what she walks in on, she doesn't count on at his ranch. Ramsey believes her to be the hired cook he needs to replace Nellie who had to leave due to a family emergency. He looked her up and down and walked out of the front door and told her not only was she late for the job but she needed to make lunch for his hands, on time! Chloe decides to stay and get to know Ramsey and as she had experience years earlier in cooking for large groups she thinks if she can get him to trust her, give her an interview that she might be able to talk him into posing for the cover. What neither Chloe nor Ramsey count on his is hot attraction and then the hot sex and falling in love. Hot Westmoreland Nights was an incredibly hot romance, with a cast of wonderful ranch hands, Westmoreland brothers and sisters and two amazing people who were absolutely made to end up with each other.

This was a generally a good book. Ramsey and Chlole had great chemsitry like many of the Westmoreland stories. I found myself being able to visualze the scenes as if I were watching a movie. I like the healthly tension that existed between the two main characters. Ramsey tried really hard to keep his distance while fighting a healthy sexaul attraction. He learned you can't fight what your body craves. The secondary characters (some new and some we remembered) added a punch of life and realisim to the story. While the concept of herding sheep was foriegn to me I enjoyed reading about their mating life cycle (LOL).
What kept this story from being rated a 5 was the length of the story. It was too short and as a result felt rushed in a few areas. Brenda Jackson is a great story teller I want to read normal length novels every now and then by her.

Ramsey and Chloe's meeting did not turn out the way that Chloe thought. Ramsey had no idea... They were taken with one another from the start.....In the end things worked out... Another great love story.....

I like Brenda Jackson. I've read a few other of her books and some I've re-read. I don't think I would re-read this book. I bought it when Amazon had it on sale and now I know why it was on sale. The writing was good, but exaggerated at times, for example:"...he told me how he felt when his parents and beloved Aunt & Uncle died." Who talks like that? Who thinks like that? I don't know anyone that describes family members as "beloved". There were examples of this throughout the whole story and it was a little irritating for me. Another irritation was, I didn't think the h and H had a chance to really connect with each other. They had animal magnetism, but no love connection. Maybe the book just wasn't long enough for that.

After reading this book, I think I need to change my occupation and try my hand at becoming a cook, especially if it meant meeting a man like Denver. A job well done as always Ms. Jackson. Thanks for your fantastic writting.

This was a good book and I had finished it fine. Well written in the sense of sentence structure. I had little nit-picky issues with this story - starting with the author being in love with the name "Westmoreland" which, to me, is not an easy roll-of-the-tongue name. Up until Chapter 4, the hero was referred to by his first and last name. Annoyed that the author kept banging me over the head with his name and yanking me out of the story each time I read it. The book was also written in chunks of narrative, which gave me the impression that the characters didn't really connect. Lots of paragraphs "telling" me the hero and heroine did this and discussed that but not actually "showing" those scenes. There was lots of wild sex (which I expected for a Desire book) but at the end I felt like sexual tension was all there was. I didn't get the feeling that these two really got know each other - or if they did, I wasn't there to see it. The hero was ready to propose and he still didn't know anything about her. Another small nit-picky thing was that everyone in this book had a nickname - Ramsey was Ram; Chloe was Clo, Lucia was Lou, Callum was Cal, etc. That took away from the uniqueness of the characters. Not everyone gets their name shortened by everyone they know. All in all, decent book but I probably would've been unhappy had I spent a usual $5-7 on it.

This was another great read by Brenda Jackson. I havent read all the books about the Westmorlands, but I'm getting there. If there was anything i could say that I did not like, I would say, there was a place in the story where she seemed to try and draw it out, as if not having enough to fill in with. But was still a great read!! I recommend it, especially if you havent read any of her books. Can be really steamy!!!
