1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!

Well I gotta say, Mattel has done it. Now, Hot Wheels has released DeLoreans before. They have also released Back to the Future DeLoreans such as this one, but the only ones I have seen were Japanese imports, or to get out of Hot Wheels range, the Johnny Lightning one. But this one surpasses the Johnny Lightning one by just a bit, and the other Hot Wheels versions by a long shot.

Now sculpting in this vehicle is amazing. If you compare this one to the unmodified DeLorean also available in the 2011 line of cars, this one is 100% different. Little details like the hood of the car, the windshield color, and obviously all the wiring and mechanics in the rear have been newly sculpted for this one. There's even a vaguely sculpted Flux-Capacitor in the back!

Paint is average, with gray bits here and there, A LOT of silver (clearly) and the taillights as well. I was even surprised that the "OUTATIME" license plate, though subtle, was applied (though sloppily on mine).

Overall, If you're a big fan of Back to the Future, or cool 80's cars, this is for you! I'm sure Hot Wheels collectors will probably eat this one up, getting different versions of their precious die-cast cars, but to us 80's film fanatics this is a collectible worth displaying anywhere, and when people see it, you'll be instantly popular. Well, at least that's my vision :) So, in recap, this car is one sweet ride, just be careful with those damn Libyans!!!

Ok, so I'm 22. When I was a kid, I LOVED BTTF, and would bend the wheels on my hotwheels cars under to make them flying cars. I always wanted a Delorean, but didn't know they made them. I recently had a wave of nostalgia and went looking, and to my childish delight I found them! I was so happy with it I ended up ordering a larger model for "grown ups". Great toy for fans of a great and timeless movie.

What can I say? It's a Delorean... it's THE Delorean... it's a Delorean Hot Wheels car! What more could you ask for? At $0.01 a car, I bought some for my friends AND two for myself, one to open and one to save. I'm a nerd...

This one is *okay*, but Hot Wheels produces a far NICER version (Hot Wheels Retro Back to the Future 1:55 Die Cast Car DeLorean Time Machine) in their movies set of vehicles, which is actually accurate in terms of body width, wheel size and (most importantly) wheel appearance in matching the real thing. This version will run on Hot Wheels tracks and loops and such, but if that isn't a concern for you or your child, the more protypically-accurate version in the black packaging is far, FAR more visually pleasing.

I know that as a child who loved BTTF, that would have mattered a lot more to me than if the car could do a few goofy tricks. If you were going to play back to the future, you lined up toy buildings and reenacted the clock tower scene. In that case, looks matter far more than functionality.

This was a great idea, and I'm glad Hot Wheels executed it. It's about 2.5 inches long, and is still incredibly detailed. Complete with the DMC logo, the interior seats and steering wheel, they even molded in all the detail on the back. It'd could've gone for some more paint, but I don't blame them for leaving it grey. Such a small area would be extremely hard to paint. Also, if anyone but Hot Wheels were doing it, it would've been nice to have the hover car mode. However, other than that, this toy car is everything it needs to be, and is an absolute must-have for a BTTF fan of any age!

There are plenty of other BTTF DeLorean's out there in the 1:64 scale that look much better than this one, and have much more detail. But this is a HotWheels car, and designed for playing with, not so much collecting. So you can't complain that it's not 100% accurate. Sure, the wheels are wrong and a few details look weird, but for what it's worth, and it's cheap price, you get what you pay for.

Vroom! Vroom! I'm keeping this in the box tacked to my wall. I've always been fascinated by the Delorean even before the movies. I really hope they do a new production model of this car.

Be careful playing with this I gave an additional one to my neighbor who is now my uncle.
