We returned the Slimecano (see the 1-star rating it got) and bought this as a replacement for our 5-year old son. This is the Hot Wheels I remember! Plastic, snap-together tracks, motorized accelerators for propulsion, fast, high-banked turns. This product actually works the way it portrays on the box. The beast's arms really go up and down and sometimes knock the car off the track. The beast's voice is neat, it sounds like a swamp beast should (think Pirate's "argh!"). I really like the timer on it, you only have 30 seconds to "defeat the beast" which means complete enough laps to trigger the upper loop diverter so your car goes on the inner track, hitting the "hyper pod attack vehicle" which provides the car with enough mass to knock the trigger and causing the head to pop off. If you win the beast knocks 2 seconds off your time (lose and add 2) and starts another round. The victory sound effects are pretty cool, too. All in all I like this toy, it's definitely worth the $24 we paid for it.

I realy love this play set. It has a launcher, a swamp beast that trys to knock the cars out of the track and, a hyperpod vehicle that is used to defeat the swamp beast. On this playset the car has to keep going around the track until the way to the swamp beast is open. when its open the car goes to the hyperpod vehicle then the hypervod vehicle goes defeat the swamp beast. You have only 30 seconds to defeat him. each time you defeat him he takes out 2 seconds off your time and when you lose he puts 2 more seconds. Buy 2 alkaline batteries they work the best on this set. thats what it said on the box of the set. I think this set is very cool because

1. It has a very fast launcher.

2. I like the hypervod vehicle

3.you have to keep going around the track and watch out for the swamp beast's arms they will knock the car out the track.

4. you can connect other sets into it if you like.

5. You have 30 seconds to defeat the swamp beast.

6.I like how the track is designed.

7.It is very durable.

8.It is very fun trying to defeat the swamp beast.

9. I like the phrases the swamp beast says.

10. you can push the switch down so the car can go to other places on the track.

I don't realy like slimecano it is very messy because of the slime.

My mom was surprised that it worked so good. I was too. I always get a chance to defeat the swamp beast. My cousins like to play with the swamp beast. It will never break. I hope everyone that likes hot wheelsets will get this toy.

My son got this for his 6th birthday. He absolutely loves it. It is big & takes up lots of space, but he plays with it everyday & it's been over a month now. Some have mentioned this didn't come with any cars, but that didn't matter to us. My son has so many cars. My only complaint with the track is the hyperpod. When I researched this toy before I bought it, I found that it came with a hyperpod to defeat the swamp beast. They sell other hyperpods, so I thought it would be fun for him to have more than one to use on the track. I purchased another hyperpod to go with this set. Once we opened the track and set it up I was disappointed to find that the other hyperpods do not fit on this track. The hyperpod that the track comes with is small and very plain. Apparently you can't buy additional ones to use on the track. Overall this doesn't seem to bother my son & he just plays with the other hyperpod seperately.

This is a nice durable, large race track from hotwheels. It didnt take long to set up and the monster is amusing. One negative is that I purchased extra accelerators cars that cost $1.74 each and some of them dont work with this track. Thats a bit annoying. I purchased the accelerators for the extra money and only cars with certain widths fit this track. My son and husband played with it for about 20 minutes and havent touched it since. I just dont think its as fun as the car washes or garages that have several different imaginative play pieces. You put this car on the track and race it to beat the monster, thats simply it. I do think its a nice track and cute monster but my son is really more into using his imagination, I think this one was a waste of money for us

My two boys, ages 4 and 6, absolutely love the swamp beast set. My only complaint, is that the risers used to elevate portions of the race track are wobbly and don't stay upright a lot of the time. There is A LOT of assembly, although each piece is marked with a corresponding letter, which greatly aides the process. Overall I think this is a fun product.

Are you kidding me?

I bought two of these. One for my nephews birthday and one for a kid in my daughter's class's birthday. My husband put it together for my nephew and said "That thing was a real pain in the butt to put together...and to make matters worse there were no cars in the box!"

I thought he was joking. Luckily my nephew HAD a few Hot Wheels in the house. I can only hope the other kid I got one for had a few Hot Wheels lying around in his house.

So my main complaint is: For the money this costs they should have at least one or two cars that come with it.

This toy is okay...but I have yet to see "The Monster" win. (Maybe I'm playing it wrong?) I'm 33 and I played with it ten minutes and got bored. The kids seem to love it though (ages 3-7) so what do I know?

I love this playset. On the playset theres one booster a swamp beast with two arms trying to hit the car out of the track and you have 30 seconds to defeat him. Each time you defeat him he takes away 2 seconds and when you lose he puts 2 more seconds. I would recommend this item to anyone who likes hotwheels playsets

by alexander, 5 1/2years old: its a hot wheels set and its like a gross swamp. Its fun, really really fun. Try to get across his long arm before he puts it down and throw you down with it.try not to crash. he says rude stuff to your car. get daddy to put it together. race down to the shops to find it!
