Product Description

Editorial Review

Linear racing becomes old hat once kids try the Hot Wheels Fireball set. Its star feature: a 21-foot-long, 360-degree racing surface on which cars defy gravity. A motorized "quad booster" increases car speed for those vertical feats and inevitable crashes, which are even cooler with the lights out because the two included racers glow in the dark. Also, this set can be used as an extension for existing Hot Wheels sets, creating even more racing action. Something parents should look out for when the cars are crashing: they can come off the track unexpectedly. The manufacturer says crashing cars may "exit the play set," which basically means someone could get popped in the kisser. There is a safety net that covers the sphere, but it can come off if not secured correctly, so caution is advised. Assembly and four D batteries are required. --Diane Beall

1.0 out of 5 stars Saw on display at store, October 31, 2001

This review is from: Hot Wheels Fireball (Toy)
We were shopping for this toy and saw it out on display (...). Big waste of money!! When he tried to make it work, the cars got half way up the ramp and fell down. On a separate try using the net, one of the cars came out and hit him in the face. I would not recommend this for anyone with kids.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this toy, November 10, 2001

This review is from: Hot Wheels Fireball (Toy)
I have the same issues as other reviewers - the toy is VERY dangerous. It is very loud and without the net is scary to watch. The cars leave the track even when there is only one going and they become projectiles. The motor running the cars sounds like a chainsaw as well. We are all scared of this play set - parents and children included. Peculiar how there is an addendum to the instructions requiring a safety net (there is no mention of this in the TV ads or on the set packaging)which after installation renders the set useless as it pulls the tracks out and the cars will no longer run for more than a second without coming off the tracks. I have loved Hot Wheels sets since I was was a child but I cannot get this one back to the store quick enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Bad Hot Wheels Toy, November 20, 2001

This review is from: Hot Wheels Fireball (Toy)
The fireball playset by Hot Wheels is just like any one of the other Hot Wheels track sets previously own such as Spider Slam, Tornado Twister and Shark Playset. It seems this one is not that good either. Like all the other reviews it is hard to play with when the cars fall off the track when it is about to go over a loop. For the price they are asking it is not even at what I think it is worth. (...) This set is somewhat educational because it will teach kids their reflex to jump out of the way before the cars it their head but thats about it. Durability? No because the track pieces off mine keep falling off because this toy shakes as the cars go through the loop making the track pieces fall off. Plus it is noisy, my son can only play with it when no one is sleeping. Luckily this toy is going where it belongs..... the store.
