Not Too Bad for Hot Wheels,

First, I am not a Hot Wheels fan. I've been disappointed too many times with their shoddy products and can't believe Mattel has been profiting on this line of toys for so long.
That said, I must admit this toy is not too bad. My five-year-old son wanted to buy it with his birthday money. Assembly was not as laborious as previous Hot Wheels products, such as Swamp Beast. He has been playing with this set all afternoon and it hasn't even fallen apart yet! I wouldn't say it is very loud, and it doesn't make any highly irritating sounds. All in all, I have to say I would recommend this toy. P.S. My son wants to add a few words: I love it when my dad plays with me. Gorilla Attack is great. I love it when the cars go in the Gorilla's mouth, and I love it when the Gorilla smashes the cars into the cage. I love it when the Gorilla gets hit and falls over.

Bought it for my son for good grades, took a little bit of time to put together , but well worth it, he had so much fun. Very loud though, place somewhere there is carpeting. He likes to race the cars, and soemtimes Dad even comes to play!

A few reason not to get it . My biggest complain being not every hotwheels will work on it. In fact I tested all the hotwheels my son has and none works except the one come with the set. 2 el cheapo small cars worked but couldn't stand the abuse of the Turbo Booster .
Other than that the track is very high speed, and it fails about 1 out of 10 times even with the stock car. It hasn't shoot the car out that can harm my son but mother and grandma is very worried. Also the hand of the gorilla suppose to hit a lever and hummer the car into a car cage. But when I set the set on carpet the gorilla misses the lever all the time. It works better on kitchen floor but the manual says make sure to set it on "carpet". I guess it's going back to the store tomorrow. I would had kept it if most hotwheels will run on the track. I bought it from Toy R Us and their display used just every hotwheels there is. I guess they never test it and it's very miss leading.

We bought this toy for our 6 year old son. After carefully constructing the track, and spending alot of time trying to line up the tracks correctly, we gave up. The pieces never fit correctly to have a car actually travel one complete circuit. It was very disappointing to our son and us. We kept it put together in his room because he could manually push the car around the loop but the Gorilla's arm kept falling off and the track would crumble with the slightest touch. I do not recommend this product at all! We threw it away within 2 weeks of purchasing it because it was a waste of space in our son's room.

This toy was given to my son (5) as a birthday present and while I understand boys are rough at this age, the toy has broken several times. The tracks don't want to stay together and the Gorilla does not want to stay up. Maybe I got a lemon? It can be fixed and when it's working, my son loves it!!! It is a fun toy and I have had loads of fun with Kyle, but a child under the age of 5 really should not have this toy. Also, anyone with a puppy should not own this toy...ours likes it too much!

My sons got this for Christmas last year, and they played with it for about 2 weeks, then gave up. I put it together exactly according to the instructions, and the first time we attempted to put the car through the track it flew off and hit my son. He wasn't hurt, just startled...but still. After tweaking the track for a very long time, we eventually got it to work. My kids were frustrated that only a handful of their very large Hotwheels collection would actually work with this toy. The toy's track soon got out of the very precise alignment it apparently has to be in, and the cars started flying off again. The gorilla's fist stopped hitting the lever in the right place, so the cage portion didn't work right. My kids must have decided that the aggravation wasn't worth it, so now its sitting in their room, unplayed with for months. Now, I'm realizing that its going to be a big pain to dissasemble and store.

Garbage Gorrilla,

This is one BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT!!! This received one star only because 0 stars wasn't an option.
My 4 year old twins wanted "Gorrilla Attack" so bad from Santa Clause last year. This was all they talked about. Well Christmas came and the time it took to put this disaster together wasn't worth it. It eats batteries in minutes, 4D's at that. It constantly fell apart. My boys were always crying that it came apart again. The car that came with the toy didn't work, and my boys have over 200 hotwheels/matchbox and they could only get one of those cars to work. Within a couple of weeks it was completely out of commission. It is a shame that this toy failed so miserably especially for the cost, which I believe we paid $40.00 last year for. It looked like it would of been a really neat toy if it actually worked and didn't fall apart every couple of minutes. I felt so sorry for my boys because they were anticipating having a lot of fun playing with this Gorrila Attack. This year my boys at first wanted the "Hot Wheels Terrordactyl Track Set" but I reminded them what happened with the "Gorrila Attack" they got last year from Santa and they changed their minds right away stating, "they didn't want Santa to waste his money or time on junk like that". After the shoddy construction of the Hotwheel Gorrilla Attack Track Set, I plan on never buying any track sets made buy Hotwheels again.

We bought this toy for our [...] old because the display was so cute in the store. I should have known something wasn't right when the display was not working. It talked but the cars didn't go. We got it home and set-up went okay (we used the animated instructions online), but realized the toy wasn't what we thought when we tried to use it. The car kept hitting the "lane switcher" and flying off the track. That problem could only be fixed temporarily. Another problem was that if the track wasn't set up precisely, the car would fly off the track. After a few laps it would move a little and have to be re-adjusted. The gorilla kept having to be re-adjusted as well... we never got it to do exactly what it was supposed to. I was under the impression that it said stuff as well (from the store display), but it never did. Anyway, after lots of annoyance with it, we decided to take it back and and we bought some legos instead.

Loads Of Fun But Tedious To Set up,

This hot wheels product is tedious to set up if you're not patient. i've seen other people say that the arms on the gorilla don't move and i had the same problem but it was because the base the gorilla snaps into was not pushed down all the way. the track sections snap into place easily. after that minor problem was resolved everything worked as advertised. the whole set creeps when turned on and used on a hard surface. the cage continually came apart from the track. i have yet to try it on carpet but i imagine it will move less. i had to hold the whole track to prevent it from sliding.

You see them at all of your kid's friends houses. The hulking forms of prior years' Hot Wheels sets. The green goo monster, the gorilla, etc. etc. My son begs for the new big Hot Wheels set every Christmas, but last year was the last time (with this Gorilla set) that I'm going to make the mistake of buying one.
You'll spend way more time assembling these things that your kid will ever spend playing with them. They'll be bored after about 10 minutes, not least because they never work exactly right and need to be constantly readjusted. Then, they get moved to the periphery of the room (or even worse, don't), gather dust, and eventually end up in the trash or a yard sale. This particular set sat at the edge of my son's room from December 25 through mid August of this room, unused. It met it's untimely demise during a playdate when one of his friends (who also has one at home lying fallow) destroyed it with a baseball bat. Did my son cry? He didn't bat an eyelash! He didn't care or miss it. Don't waste your money, just don't do it! |
