I bought this at TRU today, and to be honest I may have left it on the shelf if I had realised how little it really does.

It drives forward and reverse, and steers left and right. You can use reverse to break. The steering is a little less responsive than the throttle. It pulls ahead very quickly before you can make tight turns so be sure to play where you have a lot of space or you'll be running into the walls every moment. It doesn't keep it's alignment, to pull ahead straight for more than a couple of feet is just about impossible. It does respond well to the four commands but only up to 15 feet (box says so), though I have yet to test this out with more room.

As for the model itself, it requires no assembly besides placing 4 batteries in the car and 2 in the remote. You'll need a phillips head screwdriver. The body is mainly medium-hard plastic but the fins and pipes are made of rubber so they won't break. The overall look is very sloppy, lots of scratches and patterns before you've even got it out of the box. They can produce TV remotes without all this mess, why not toy cars? You don't see this kind of factory defacement on Hasbro vehicles.

Oh, a word about the carton - you'll want to open the end with the remote first (it's viewable through a window and clearly packed seperately) but be warned: the inner display sleeve is taped to the outer box at the opposite end - if you try to yank it out from the remote side you'll destroy the box. This is all quite absurd when you finally get the inner display out and realize it's meant to be re-displayed with plastic turn-togs that release the car and remote. So open the hood side first.

"With nearly elite-level decos..."

That statement isn't only an exaggeration, it's a lie.

First off I have been buying and selling Hot Wheels and Matchbox stuff (buying seriously for my collection sence the early 80's and selling to acquire rare items I like for about 10 years now and just started a couple weeks ago selling on amazon) and I have a large collection of cars and other die-cast t.v and movie related items and i love the original Batmobile it is my 3rd fav item to buy no.1 is the Stagecoach Express and no.2 is The Munster Mobile.so I went to one of my local toy stores and found this and bought two of them and asked the stores manager that I might be interested in buying a case of them but I wanted to test out one of them first and put the other in my collection. After I removed one from the package I was not too thrilled with the plastic body it had some swirling in it my other one has none I can see from closed package and the paint job had a little to be desired especially for the $40.00 plus tax price tag than I put batiries in it to take it for a test drive and the remote looks like those ones you us to find on a $9.99 remote car that had the wires going from the remote to the car the only cool part of the controller is it is shaped like the Bat Signal.so I took it on its made voiage and it instantly went slowly right (not in a strate line) so i adjusted the trim under it but after like 15 seconds it went back to how it was originally.on a scale of 1-10 on looks out of the box I would say 4.5 at the most and in the box 6 it looks better in the box than out and as a remote controlled car I would give it a 2.5 (and for original cost as a remote controlled car a 1 I understand that now a days $40.00 is not that evpencive for a remote controlled car but it performed like a $1 type store item that sells for 4.99-9.Read more ›

On the most part, I have to "regrettably" agree on the customer review written by Jon. For what it's worth, I've been purchasing many R/C products both professional and preassembled since 1980. I've even gone so far as designing a couple of highly detailed self made kits myself. I purchased this one from that well known chain toy store we usually see commercials for on TV. When I saw this on the shelf, my eyes popped out in disbelief. I'm a big Batman fan from before the 60's TV show ever came out and have a large collection of Batmobiles from throughout the ages in a nostalgia museum in my house (Man Cave). This kit does look cool but it is cheaply made for a 40 dollar price tag. My first one I bought had a problem turning left and had to return it for a replacement. I agree also on what was written about the paint job. ??? What paint job. I noticed there were areas where there were slightly discolored swirls or patterns in the plastic. Not every kit was the same though. When choosing my replacement I carefully examined around 6 different cars and noticed the finished quality varied in both the details and patterns in the plastic. It does have a problem going straight but that can be somewhat corrected by the trim screw under the front end of the car. Even with the trim screw it's still a little sloppy. Its range is extremely limited for a 40 dollar price tag. "Around" 15 feet is nothing in the r/c world. I'm disappointed it wasn't designed to be a "Radio Control" instead of a remote control. Even with the limited range, you do need a lot of room with this thing unless you don't mind choppy stop n' go operation trying to maneuver, or ramming into things. The previous reviewer was right; the box makes a cool display.Read more ›
