A lot of TV movie die-cast vehicle collectors aren't fans of the two Hot Wheels Simpsons vehicles, usually because they refer to Johnny Lightning's later released actual TV show looking vehicles (Marge's Car, Homer's Pink Car, the Springfield Elementary School Bus and Chief Wiggum's Patrol Car) as being so much better. They are better, there's no argument from me there, but I think Hot Wheel's Nuclear Waste Van and Family Camper are still pretty good too. Especially the Nuclear Waste Van, which due to Hot Wheels using the most basic and uninteresting car in their range, the Combat Medic casting which has been around since 1977 actually looks like it's something that would have appeared in the cartoon. Don't know why the casting is called what it is as it's got nothing to do with either combat or medics as it was originally released as a mail truck in 77. It's one of the lowest quality mass produced Hot Wheels vehicle castings ever made, it's pretty much just a rectangle on wheels and that simpleness just works as a Simpson's vehicle. You can park it next to the Johnny Lightning cars and it seriously looks like it was also drawn to be a vehicle in Springfield.

What this and the Family Camper have that Johnny Lightning vehicles don't is when you look through the back, you can see a Simpsons' sketch by Groening. There's a couple of variations for each vehicle. Mine has Homer driving (well crashing the van) into nuclear waste barrels, with Bart up on a raised platform to the side cheering. Marge's picture is on the rear view mirror and there's some other employee in a hazmat suit carrying a nuclear rod off to the right. It uses the same techology that the 2003 Matchbox Around The World Collection used with their bonus camera of a sort of magnified bit of plastic.

The packaging of the two Hot Wheels cars is also a nice reflection of how The Simpson's was marketed back in the early 90s around Bart. With Bart on the blister cards.
