Not the best carrying case November 26, 2008
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
If you are looking for a carrying case to house matchbox/hotweels sized cars, this will do the trick but is not the best. It does hold over 72 cars (more - if you don't mind stuffing 2 cars in the same slot). The case is double sided and the front lid has a spinning hubcap. The spinning hubcap doesn't really do anything. Sure it spins, but so what? It's not really anything your child can play with. The lids do not open well. The lid on the back side doesn't even stay open by itself - you kind of have to hold it open. It would have been nice if you could flip the lid open 180 degrees. The lids also do not hold a tight seal, so we've had them pop open many times.

Luckily we found this for not too much $$. It's not that it's a bad case, it just isn't great if you (or your child) is going to be in and out of it all the time. I'd recommend instead the standard 48 slot carrying case:
Hot Wheels Molded 48 Car Case - Colors May Vary
It may not hold as many cars, but it's much better made.

I have been wanting to get a hot wheels case for my son (3 years) for all of his cars. We bought this case yesterday at Target (for a lot less than Amazon's price BTW) A day later one of the doors has already fallen off and the hidges are starting to crack, it DOES NOT open well and it is only a matter of time before it will break. Making a trip back to Target to return it~

Back to the drawing board Hot Wheels Company, this case really sucks!

not worth it December 8, 2011

Hot Wheels Spinner Car CaseMy son received this case as a gift since he has A LOT of various toy cars and we needed something to contain and transport them. One or both of the lids broke off the first day or two that he got it, and it wasn't because he was too rough with it. I've tried many times to put the lids back on, but they keep snapping off. So now we're left with a car case that he's not able to carry because it has nothing keeping the cars enclosed. One side of the case stores the cars horizontally, which we don't use because the cars would fall out. We use the case for storing cars in the other side where the slots position the cars vertically, and an adult has to transport the case with both hands (not by the handle) sideways so that the cars don't fall out. It's also pretty heavy, but I suppose if you get forty or so metal cars in a case there's a tendency for any case to get heavy. I think this case is poorly made and overpriced. The plastic also has sharp edges, especially at the case closures and edges. They need to make these cases so that the child can easily put the cars away, close the case, and transport them by holding the case by the handle or roll on wheels. Hopefully we'll just get a bigger case that has more of a rolling backpack design.
