Several cars work on the track and can make several laps. If the first jump doesn't work, just try placing it on the figure '8'. The video is to show how the cars go around, and how much fun kids and adults had with the toy, with apologies for the unedited format. Perhaps this will clarify what you are getting and how it works.

If you and your kids like Hot Wheels, you will definitely want to test their limits beyond pushing them across the floor or down a slide. That's where Hot Wheels Super Jump Raceway comes in. It's a large, oblong track that is motorized to shoot the car from one end of a tight track to a larger landing pad that then leads the car through the speedy track once again.

There is also a launch pad where you can line up cars for continuous launching action, zooming one car after another. Your child can control how many cars are launched onto the track. There is a cardboard backdrop to make it seem like the cars are driving through a city. For my son, I left that off. The track is blue and orange. There is a switch, easily accessible, to start and stop the motors that make the cars zoom.

It was a little tricky assembling some parts of the track. For a while I kept staring at the instructions, box and track trying to figure it out. But once it was connected we were literally good to go. The track has a lot of flex to it. It's important to have the support in the right place to keep the cars going.

Not all cars work with the track. We had to go through our pile to find ones that wouldn't be to thin/slender or too top heavy. Shorter cars worked best. Try to find cars that resemble the one in the box if you are going to buy more. And I do suggest buying more, since it adds to the fun. I mean, if you purchase the raceway as a gift, especially for Christmas, extra cars would make excellent Stocking Stuffers. The set comes with only one car.

The Super Jump Raceway takes 4 D batteries. It has three motors that are working to push the cars continuously. It is loud. The set is recommended for ages 4 and up. I agree with the age recommendation since younger kids will probably just want to sit on it - my little one does. My 3.5 year old is working it perfectly, though. Overall, a fun set, especially for Hot Wheel fanatics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boys love it, works with about 50% of cars, November 16, 2009

My boys received this on on their 3rd/5th birthdays (their birthdays are 2 weeks apart). They love it and have played iwth it almost everyday since mid-September. It works with about 50% of the 30-odd hotwheels cars they have. It's sturdy enough for responsible 3+ year olds to play with without destroying, and only needs occasionaly fixing by an adult. They've learned how to time the loading of vehciles to have up to 4 cars going at once (very tricky) and can even add the occasional light-weight obstacle to the track for the cars to knock out of the way after completing a jump. This is the 3rd hot wheels track they've gotten, and by far the most fun and most played with. The other 2 tracks are currently put away sinc they rarely used them once this one arrived.

1.0 out of 5 stars Should have payed attention to the negative reviews......, December 27, 2009

Bought this as a Christmas present for my 3 1/2 year old son. Unfortunately I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews, as this is a very poor quality product!

1. The instructions aren't very clear, but one can figure out how to put the track together within a few minutes.
2. The track connections are of poor quality. For example, on my son's unit, the power unit that drives the cars around the track has 3 power boosters with 3 track connections. Two of those connections lie flush, thus the cars move smoothly. However, one connection is raised (cannot lie flush) thus once the car(s) hits that raised connection, the car either flies off the track or flips thus cannot complete the circuit.
3. My son has roughly 50 Hot Wheels cars. Of those cars, we have found only 5 that can make it around the track once. Most cannot even make the first jump.
4. The INCLUDED car generally makes it around the track just ONCE before crashing, flipping, flying off the track, or just not completing the circuit. Again, that is the INCLUDED car!! If the INCLUDED car can't even make it around the track more than one time, you know this set is GARBAGE!
5. Amazingly, the car that works the best on this tack is the "Speed Racer" Hot Wheels car. That car almost always makes it around the track twice, and a few times has made 3 complete circuits of the track before flipping, flying off the track, or crashing.
6. The suport columns are useless. The support for the blue curve keeps separating, no matter how "secure" you make the connection. The supports for the orange curve cannot lie flat on any surface, and do not support the track well.

As for entertainment value - it has some. My son has played with it every day, but never more than 15-20 minutes at a time. He tries all his cars on the track, and after seeing most of the cars fail to complete the circuit, he digs out his old Hot Wheels 4-Lane race track and plays with his cars on that unit instead.

Should have paid attention to the poor reviews and saved myself the money.

We got this for my twin boys 3rd birthday even though the reviews were bad... the reviews were wrong! It is a GREAT TOY! It only comes apart if you take it apart (assuming you put it together correctly) and we have found MANY, MANY hotwheels that work in the track... they just have to be a certain shape (wide and flat like the ferrari or lambo). I love playing with it with my boys but they love it even more. We got it to put in the corner of their room so they would have something to play with in the mornings (to keep then out of their dresser drawers!) and that's just what they do... Every morning my wife and I hear the motor get turned on then the swishing of cars around the track and the inevitable eruption of laughter when they crash. We LOVE IT! IT's fun for dads too!

Bought this for my son's 4th birthday...it took a while to set it up, The whole thing is made of cheap plastic that doesn't fit well together. Then there is only one car (included) from Hot Wheels that works. My son loves cars and has a full drawer set of cars from hot wheels and other brands...but none of them work. he was so disappointed! The box/description doesn't even mention that only the car included works, not which other type if hot wheels wheels cars should be bought. I regret so much buying this and spending the money on such a piece of junk!

I bought this at Christmas for me and my 4 year old daughter to play with together. It was difficult to assemble and not nearly as fun as expected. You can only get the car around the track a couple times before it crashes. Not the same as the ones I had as a kid. We used the launcher to crash the cars into LEGO buildings instead.

It only took about half an hour to put together but it doesn't work! It works in the sense that it makes the cars jump but they can't land correctly. They keep crashing. Poorly designed and I wouldn't buy it again. If my kid didn't rip the packaging, I would probably have sent it back. It is a bummer as this was the "must have" present my kid wrote Santa to get.

This toy is made of crappy cheap plastic material, is not durable at all, to the point that if you slide it somewhere other than the position you assembled the damn thing in it will fall apart. The amount of battery power this thing takes is retarded.....4 D20's just to launch a car in a small track.....WTF!!! Avoid! Boy wanted one for christmas now he may end up bringing it back, it's tonka & blocks from now on!

Neat toy and works for the most part but falls apart easily. My biggest complaint though is that it is gigantic and takes up way too much space in my boys' room. Not at all worth the space we had to sacrifice for it. They've maybe played with it 4 times since they got it 6 months ago.
