I am soo glad to see hot wheels bring back the "old fashioned" basic track sets. For years all they offered were the power booster-dinosaur-destructo sets where you set it up in a predetermined configuration,turned it on, and watched it. The basic sets lets the kids put the track together however their imagination directs them. And gravity makes the cars go. Beautiful! BTY I got the track pack for $15 at Toys R Us 12/09. It's worth about $20 +/-. Don't pay more!

This item is pretty well packed with what you need to rekindle your love of Hot Wheels after your parents asked you if you wanted to pick up your stuff from their house before they moved and took everything to good will, and you said that you wouldn't need any of that "crap" so they can do what ever they want with it...and then you grow up and have a child of your own and think, "what ever happened to all that Hot Wheels track I used to have that was so much fun when I was a kid"...

But I digress...13 pieces of track sounds like a lot but, with the new generation of cost cutting measures companies take these days, the track pieces are only a foot or so long each(still kicking myself). The loops and jump and connector tabs are pretty much the same, as well as the on the floor launcher and the gravity clamp.

If you are inclined to leave the house however and have a Toys R Us within a days drive...just yesterday I walked out of there with: this set, an extra loop, an extra gravity clamp and a suicide criss cross(the extra stuff comes with an average of 4 additional pieces of track by the way) for only $40 after taxes.

Amazon's current price is so high, I was able to get *two* sets plus two day shipping and tax from Toys R Us for less than Amazon's price.

Despite my fondness for Amazon I ordered it online from Toys 'R Us as the current price on that site is only 19.99 per unit. Check out the price at Toys 'R Us but keep in mind shipping and sales tax. I ordered enough stuff to qualify for free shipping but did have to pay sales tax.

My grown son played with Hot Wheel cars and tracks a lot when he was young, long before all the themed ones prevalent today; they don't appeal to me. I was really happy they brought the old style back so kids can use their imagination. I know my triplet grandsons will get many hours of fun from this simple but ingenious toy. It's a classic.

The toy itself is a great toy which my son immediately started playing with and having a lot of fun with. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews prior to purchase and didn't note the huge price difference between the sellers price and Toys-R-Us. While typically Toys-R-Us can be overpriced it was just the opposite here. Toys-R-Us at the time of this writing is offering the same regular price for this item for only $19.99 with free shipping. As in a previous review I could (and should have) bought two from them instead of one from this seller. The toy did arrive quickly and is definitely something to add to your Hot Wheels collection but check other vendors prices first.

For what you get in the kit, $50 is way too much. However, once I got it home and let the kids go to town, they had so much fun with it that I didn't care so much about the price anymore. Its great for young creative minds that like to build their own race tracks. Still though, the price tag is a hard pill to swallow.

We got this for our 2 year old because he is obsessed with cars we didn't want him having any of the new Hot Wheels stuff. A lot of them need batteries, have stupid monsters or other annoying things attached to them ... seriously, Hot Wheels are for 'playing cars'..using your imagination, designing your own tracks, etc. I was so pleased to come across this Track Pack! It's not exactly like the set my husband has when he was growing up in the 80s but it's the closest you can get to it. Hubby was pleased that the track pack comes with a clamp and has already shown our son how to make unique tracks through out our house by attaching it to tables, chairs & other furniture. Each time they play with it, they create a new track design so it never gets boring! We plan to buy another Track Pack so we'll have another clamp, more tracks, connecters and ramps.

Will these tracks last forever? Probably not. The connectors are really flimsy... one of ours has already been bent. :( Wish Hot Wheels would make these better but as with most things these days, toy companies consider everything to be "throw-a-aways". We keep our tracks in a plastic storage bin when not in use and don't get them out if we have a bunch of other toddlers over in hopes of getting the most life out of them (we have another on on the way and would like to be able to pass them down to him).

p.s. Don't overpay for this set!! Anything over $25 is too much.

good buy. perfect starter set. nothing fancy just the good basic tracks and loop, curve and such. got for $24 at toys r us, after checking that it was in stock there. can't imagine why $50 on amazon!

Bought this toy for my niece, she loves it. She's been playing with hotwheels since she was about 12 months. Got her this and she loves it (she's 3yr old now). This reminded me of the hotwheels tracks I had growing up, and the ones my dad had when he was little too.

I have a bunch of Hot Wheels already,(ex-collector), and this track is great with the neighbor kids I share them with.
