I don't understand why this is out of print. I have only heard clips form this album and it sounds great. However, it is not an easy item to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Don't Try This At Home!", November 13, 2003

Brent Mason is one of the best guitar players in the world! But, as his wife, I am extremely prejudiced! Since Hot Wired's release Brent has been so busy simply working that another CD has been out of the question, but due to constant pressure from the music industry and fans alike, Brent should be in the studio recording a NEW album of originals that should be released by mid-2004. The tounge-in-cheek title "Don't Try This at Home" will definitely include more of his hot chickin'pickin' than Hot-Wired to keep listeners happy, but since Brent's true love is soulful jazz, expect to find that included as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars GUITARIST'S GUITARIST PLAYS MORE THAN COUNTRY!, October 8, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Hot Wired (Audio CD)
BRENT MASON SHOWS WHY HE IS THE MOST IN DEMAND PLAYER IN NASHVILLE. WHAT MIGHT SURPRISE A LOT OF PLAYERS IS HIS COMMAND OF THE JAZZ IDIOM AS HE TIPS HIS HAT TO GEORGE BENSON AND WES. THIS GUY'S BLEND OF TECHNIQUE AND TASTE IS AMAZING. THIS CD IS A PLAYER'S SHOWCASE SO IF YOU'RE INTO POP COUNTRY LIKE BROOKS AND DUNN OR SHANIA TWAIN IT PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU. BUT IF YOU APPRECIATE VIRTUOSITY ALONG THE LINES OF JIMMY BRYANT,CHET ATKINS,LES PAUL, DANNY GATTON, ALBERT LEE, ARLEN ROTH, THE HELLECASTERS,JIM CAMPILONGO ETC.ETC. THEN THIS IS A MUST OWN EFFORT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Wired...Brent Mason Blows Down All the Doors!, November 5, 2002

This CD showcases the best of the best of Nashville's elite "A" session guitarists. I've been a Country Road Musician for 28 years, working as a Guitarist and a Bassist backing Artists and in Road Bands. I've had to cover everyone in Top 40 Country, and the only time I really have to sweat is covering stuff that Brent did the session work on. No one comes close to his ability to play from the heart and his incredible taste. Brent is hands down one of the two or three finest players on this planet! This album is a fine cross section of his creative mind and abilities. The depth of his writing is incredible. As a player; I can hear and feel that he is at times trying sooooo hard to sound more understated than he is actually coming across on the track. When he practices "less is more;" he comes across as impressively to me as when he burns as on "Hot Wired." Anyone that is a serious pro player can learn humility by listening to this CD. I spend an hour of my practice time every day when I'm home, doing the Bass with this CD, and Brent's other efforts....especially with Mark O'Connor's New Nashville Cats! There are a lot of CD's that feature great Country Picking....this is the best of the best!

4.0 out of 5 stars Some cuts burn, others simmer, August 18, 2001

This review is from: Hot Wired (Audio CD)
I found this CD in a second-hand store a couple of years ago and was surprised at how good it was. The rock and country stuff blazes and clearly shows why Brent Mason is considered to be one of the premier guitarists working today. He seems quite at home in a variety of styles and doesn't seem to suffer from the "every song sounds the same" syndrome that I've found in other guitar players' solo albums. The only criticism I have of this CD (and don't let this keep you from buying it) is the inclusion of several "light" jazz pieces (think Kenny G) that I inevitably skip over. Even these cuts are not bad at all. I just don't care for that style.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like good music, then get this disc, February 14, 2000

nice broad spectrum of guitfiddle here. Nobody outplays Brent on the Country selections-yet its nice to see him branch out a little bit. Would love to hear him play a straight out blues and he can rock out! I would get another disc by Brent anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tour de Force, January 17, 2000
This review is from: Hot Wired (Audio CD)
While I can feel my fellow twang-lusters' pain that Brent's chicken-pickin' is only 1/5 th of the album, I am going to weigh in on the side of recognising musical genius when I hear it. This is the most well-rounded, accomplished and intelligent guitar offering I have heard since the Hellecasters' "Escape from LA", and I think this is actually much better, because Brent is taking on almost all the venerated guitar genres and infusing his tremendous ability into them. We are very fortunate to have a muscian of this caliber keeping the great traditions alive and fresh.

This first Cd from Brent Mason has estabished him as a tele-terror of which no has ever seen. Brent plays lightning quick runs up and down the neck. The way he combines fast jazz licks with chickin' pickin country is amazing. A must for any guitar fan. I can't wait for his next release.

I was fortunate and bought this CD when it was first released. I'm not a country music fan, but Brent makes you listen.I love this CD,for I am basically a jazz person. I wish this guy would do a jazz cd. He can play anything he wishes. Brent Mason is one of the best guitar players in the world

I would love to own this CD but they are going for $25.00 + on ebay. Seeing as they are going for so much, and there are so few being sold, how about printing a few more for guitar lovers & players like me?
I own the Hot Licks video and it is great also.
