My husband has tongue cancer. He is fine now except it takes him a long time to eat anything because his salvary glands are pretty much destroyed from the cancer. Now he can take as long as he needs to and the food stays warm without continuing to cook like an electrical device would. One very important tip though is DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER. ONLY WASH THE TOP PART! AND IT IS NOT DISHWASHER SAFE!

I bought this plate as a surprise for my wife, who had weight loss surgery. She has to eat slowly, so her food gets cold before she's done. I was so happy that I'd found the answer to the problem! But this item turned out to be a real dud. I have a 900 watt microwave oven. Heated plate for one minute, and it didn't stay hot for anywhere near 30 minutes. Furthermore, only the center of the plate became particularly hot. Other areas of the plate cooled down so quickly that it made the claim that the plate keeps food warm for 30 minutes ridiculous. I looked at the instructions again, and saw that I might need to heat the plate for 1 minute and 10 seconds. I tried that, and still had the same problem. This morning I put fried eggs in the center of the plate, and it COOKED them so that they became dry.Again, areas outside the center became cool long before 30 minutes. I followed instructions to wait 5 to 8 minutes to allow plate to heat completely. I did everything the instructions said to do, but the plate does not measure up---not by a long shot. I saw in one review that the reviewer was able to contact the seller. I tried to find a phone number but found
nothing. By the way, I purchased the plate THREE days ago, at 49.99, and now the seller has raised the price to 52.99! For a price such as that, the plate ought to work as described! I think maybe the reason the seller is able to get his price for the plate IS because there is nothing else like it available. I wish there was, and that it worked! I DO give the seller a lot of credit for not only thinking of something he might invent, but then actually making the thing he had in mind, and THEN actually getting it on the market. That's NOT easy! So kudos on that. BUT the plate needs significant improvement with regard to keeping food warm.

This plate is wonderful. My sister was having problems eating and we found out it was because her food was getting cold. I read the reviews and was a bit concerned, however, now that we have been using it for several weeks I have no regrets. We actually don't put the plate in the microwave for a full minute we use 50 seconds and that is more than enough to get the plate hot. We also make sure we don't put it in the sink full of water and carefully hand wash it. Thank you to the inventor of this plate. We also love the fact that the edges stay cool so we can easily take it out of the microwave.

Waste of money. Plate is too small and one must keep food in the center of plate. Tried different times in microwave but plate gave off an undesirable odor. Good paper weight. Plates may work in the future save your time and money till then. Did not see the use in contacting vendor as I am sure plates will not work any better. Went back to oven warming drawer.

I've hunted for years for a plate like this hotsmart gourmet plate. This is the answer to my prayers. I needed a plate that keeps my food warm until I am finished eating. I eat very slowly and always end up finishing my meals eating cold food. I am unable to reheat my food cuz of medical reasons. This plate is wonderful & keeps the food warm for 1/2 hr or more. I love it & highly recommend it.

As some with progressive bulbar palsy a form of ALS, eating is really slow. This plate keeps food hot longer than a normal plate which is very helpful.

Not good. Need to return plate. The plate came apart from the bottom piece after only using it one time. The idea is great but the surface that stays hot is just the center of plate, not big enough to keep food warm. The coffee cup might be better.
