First a fair warning for those who want some background music

when studying,cleaning...this is not the right choise,you WILL

stop doing it and find yourself listen to the music.Thank god

the world have many great singers and is full of nice music,

unfortunately they don't always meet like in this case...

I have liked Anouk since the first album,but to be honest only

a few song on the earlier albums really stand out.Now to the

hotel...the tracks is in perfect harmony whit rock,pop,reagge

and so on.Every track is good and many of them... hm,well even better.Her voice is raw,powerfull,sensitive and you can hear

that SHE sings from the heart and that means a lot.

I heard Anouk first while watching "So You Think You Can Dance". "Lost" was the song and I enjoyed the sound of it so much that I checked out Amazon for more of her music. I now have two CDs by her and have listened to both of them over and over. I like the unique sound of her voice and I enjoy her music which tells stories that connect for me. I like this CD quite a lot. However, in contrast to other reviewers, I prefer her "Lost Tracks" CD. Maybe because the music was done earlier and doesn't have quite so much of a polished edge. It sounds slightly rawer than Hotel New York. As a result, for me the music sounds a little edgier and a little newer. Nevertheless, I shouldn't like to be without either of these CDs and if you are a fan of Anouk, you certainly won't be disappointed by either album.

Hotel New York, Anouk's 4th studio album is among her best cd's. It shows her versatility (pop, reggae, rock, ballads) and has some of her best songs and performances. Hard to pick hightlights but I should mention the poppy hit 'Girl', the rousing 'More Than You Deserve' and 'Jerusalem' and the absolutely gorgious ballads 'Lost' and 'One Word'.
