Book Description

April 1, 1997
The prime suspect was a sleepwalker

For the second time in her life Clancy Jones had awakened at a murder scene—this time with the murder weapon in her hand. Without recall, she insisted she was innocent, framed and the real killer after her. To the untrained eye, she looked mighty guilty. But to private investigator Jake Hawkins, she still looked damn good.

Desire for Clancy had always burned inside Jake; so had anger. Ten years ago Clancy sleepwalked onto another crime scene and her testimony had put Jake's father behind bars. Now Jake didn't know if he wanted to prove his seductive client's innocence—or guilt.

LAWMAN—There's nothing sexier than the strong arms of the law!

Who was the killer? Someone was after Clancy Jones. Was someone afraid of what she would remember? Was it true that she sleepwalked? Or was it all lies?

KiKi Talbot Conner wasn't above blackmail when she approached Jake Hawkins to protect her niece.
Jake was in Galveston and ready for a vacation. KiKi wanted him in Montana where he and Clancy had been raised and fallen in love years ago.

Warren Hawkins was in prison because of Clancy's testimony. Was he guilty of embezzelment and murder?

Johnny Branson the retired sheriff and husband of Helen Branson, a lady with money, had caused an accident which put Helen in a wheelchair the night of the murder.

Dex Westfall followed Clancy to Hawk Island vowing to get what he deserved. Had he solved the mystery of the murder of Lola and why did the blue beads keep turning up>

Frank Ames, a dock boy ten years ago, now owned Hawk Island Resort. Where did he get the money to buy the resort.

Why was everyone, even his dad, telling Jake to let sleeping dogs lie? What was the implied mystery here?
Jake just couldn't believe Clancy sleepwalked. He left her ten years ago when his father was sent to prison. Now he was back. Clancy was determined to solve the mystery with or without Jake.

Another great mystery and a bit of PMS - two wounded people who just can't keep their hands off each other. Jake and his hunches.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -M
