America's First Psychobilly Comp!,
By MusicMaverick (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hotter Than Hell... An Injection of Psychobilly Madness [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
In 1998 HairBall8 Records released the first psychobilly comp to really dig into the American psychobilly scene. There are three "overseas" bands on this album, Mad Sin (Germany), Phantom Rockers (UK) and Fireballs (amazing Australian psycho-metal band)...but the other 26 are from America and represent the psycho scene as it began in America in the 90s. Most of these bands would be classified as psychobilly in any psycho fan's book, but there are a few tracks that might lean towards the harder rockabilly side of things like Hillbilly Hellcats, the horror rock side of things like Helvis & The Hellvettes, or the just plain amusing side of things like Deadbolt. Regardless, this is one kicker of of a comp...a truly original piece of psychobilly history.
