Enter the world of fiction...., September 19, 2004
This is a collection of stories that is obviously NOT hacked thoughtlessly together. This will take you into a whole new world of fiction, introducing you to a wide variety of authors from many genres.
Among these stories you will find, "I Sing the Body Electric!" by Ray Bradbury, "Paul's Case" by Willa Cather, "Sonny's Blues" by James Baldwin, and stories from Virginia Woolf, Margaret Atwood, W. Somerset Maugham, D.H. Lawrence, etc...
Sometimes, I find myself wanting a "new author" to enjoy, but don't want to read an entire novel, and have something to satisfy my short attention span. This book satisfies the need for variety, and an introduction into classic literature. Reading many of these short stories has inspired me to seek out novels written by these authors, which I have gone on to enjoy.
This book is 1287 pages long, which is one of its strong suits. For any teacher, parent, or even late-bloomer into the world of literature as it used to be, and should be today, I highly recommend this.
