Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel was Elvis' biggest hit single in the US. Hound Dog was originally intended to be the A-side, but it was overcome in popularity by Don't Be Cruel. The single stayed at number 1 on the US sales chart for 11 weeks in 1956. Don't Be Cruel was listed as the number 1 single on the Billboard Top 100 for 7 weeks while Hound Dog was listed as number 2. The rival Cashbox singles chart had them at number 1 for a combined 10 weeks; the first 4 weeks Hound Dog was listed as number 1 and the last 6 weeks Don't Be Cruel was listed as number 1. Both songs became Elvis standards and still receive radio airplay today. The single would eventually be certified MULTI-PLATINUM with sales in excess of 4 million. This release includes a bonus track, the hit song Anyway You Want Me. A collector's item classic!
