This small book of Francis Thompson's poems is a beautiful experience. "The Hound of Heaven" is the crowning glory of the piece. How often I have found my self running from the "Footsteps" following me. I think the line "All which I took from thee I did but take, Not for thy harms, But just that thou might'st seek it in My arms." is one of the most comforting to those who have lost and suffered. Also very special are Daisy and Little Jesus. Francis Thompson was born before his time a little appreciated then but he is definitely a poet for our moral declining culture. I am fancinated by his love of nature. I would recomend these little poems to anyone who feels lost, afraid, alone and in pain, and to anyone who wants to feel closer to God.

What a nice little book of poetry (soft cover) makes it a good value. Of course "The Hound of Heaven" is wonderful, but check out "Little Jesus" on page 71. It will bring a tear to your eye.

Francis Thompson is one of the last of the truly inspired poets. The very best always seem to have a mystical connection, even those who are more secular such as Keats and Yeats. But Thompson was openly religious, an unpopular term today. Among today's poets I might include Billy Collins but I won't try to explain that. There might be others among the moderns but not many. You have to go back a century or more to get the feeling that the poet is in touch with someting other-worldly. Aut mainly Thompson is such a pleasure to read. -------------- Charlie Killeen (Especially recommend Hound Of Heaven and In No Strange Land [The Kingdom of God})

Just not worth the cost ($5.95) - and ordered on a Saturday with Prime shipping, and it did not arrive until Wednesday evening of the following week. If you ever have Prime shipping, and then you stop having it, you will see that the items are priced cheaper without the Prime included - which is not how a Prime membership is described, but it is how it works. The membership is supposed to pay for the shipping, and is given to encourage you to buy more - but with the prices increased on each item, I don't really see that it is worth the inflated cost of membership. Don't think I will be signing up again. Love the Hound of Heaven poem, but it can be found online easily to read any time - and I suppose the others can too. The printing is very small and old type as well, with lots of added space around the pages. You can get a full color hardback 365 day devotional book (such as Jesus Calling) for only $9.11 right now, so the $5.95 for this booklet really is overpriced. If you just must have every copy of these poems, perhaps this will do, but surely there are other versions available - or simply save these dollars and give to the poor? Something to think about.
