More About the Author

Lorraine Jean Hopping grew up in a small town in Michigan, went to a small college in Michigan (Kalamazoo College), and then began to dream big. At the age of 21, she moved to New York City to launch a career in publishing as a writer and editor.

A combination of curiosity and fear of boredom have led her into the worlds of magazines, books, radio, software, board games, toys, websites, and . . . what next? She has enthusiastically tackled an ever-expanding range of topics with special passions for languages, international cultures, science, math, and technology.

Today, Lorraine still dreams big as she creates out of a cozy home office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Learn more about her and her game development company--Hopping Fun Creations--at lorrainejeanhopping.com.

This review is from: Noun Hounds and Other Great Grammar Games (Grades 3-6) (Paperback)
I was surprised and relieved after buying Noun Hounds online to see that the grammar games were not too long or too complicated. My favorite is one of the simplest ones--a variation of the game Buzz--you say buzz in place of nouns (or adjectives, or other parts of speech) instead of in place of certain numbers. We use it as a warm-up for every grammar lesson. It takes less than 5 minutes for the students to thoroughly learn a list of words. There are also board games, puzzles, mazes--even a really fun charades-like game about adverbs for kinesthetic learners. The class hams really ham it up!
