I am new to scripture study (as opposed to scripture reading). I have purchased several scripture study guides, but have only flipped through them because their scholarly approach intimidates me somewhat. I expected the same from "The Hour of Jesus", but was I wrong!! This is a wonderful book! It is easy to read, yet is certainly a scholar's study. I will never read John's Gospel and epistles in the same way again. I am not yet finished -- this book needs to be savored and absorbed rather than read quickly -- but my understanding and interest in John's writings has increased enormously. I hope to find other books that will open the scriptures to me as well this one has.
