More About the Author

Candace Pearson grew up in what she calls the "other" California--the great Central Valley--where farms still help define the landscape. This geography serves as inspiration and backdrop for much of her book, "Hour of Unfolding," which won the 2010 Liam Rector First Book Prize for Poetry from Briery Creek Press, Longwood University.

"Hour of Unfolding" explores issues of family, born-into and chosen; the quandries of romantic love; and the space between leaving and returning. It spotlights that moment--that hour of unfolding--when life can still go in another direction.

Her poems have been published in leading literary journals nationwide and have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She's also featured in a number of poetry anthologies, including "Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose About Alzheimer's Disease" (editor: Holly Hughes) and "Sharing the Seasons: A Book of Poems" (editor: Lee Bennett Hopkins).
