Zambri is the ethereal duo of Cristi Jo and Jessica, sisters whom have been making music together since they shared a bedroom as kids. Spending endless hours creating stories and building universes with their voices and toys, their debut album, House Of Baasa, out April 10th, 2012, is a powerful expression that embodies the spirit of adventure in all its glory. Listening to this album brings to mind Siouxsie and the Banshees. For the first few listens, it's something you actually think about. But that doesn't last long. As with so many other exceptional albums, you have to hang with it for several listens before it sinks into you and you realize how great it is. Zambri is a band with tremendous song writing talent, and no other band around today has a sound like them. House of Baasa is a whirlwind of rousing, intoxicating musical intensity that is certain to get you up on your feet and moving. It's dark, and it's powerfully beautiful from start to finish.
I love this album. Best album of 2012.
A few of my favorite more recent albums are Bloom by Beach House, Visions by Grimes, Reign of Terror by Sleigh Bells, In Light by Givers, and Interpol by Interpol.
