I love this book! I'm a shelter magazine fan and have been reading Lisa Cregan in House Beautiful for years. She has a fantastic eye and has collected inspiring rooms, objects and other elements all involving the color blue. From teal and aqua to royal and navy blue, all shades are represented here in a range of settings. It's most helpful that so many paint brands and colors are identified. I especially love the decorators' quotes, which illuminate why they chose a color and the role it performs in a room. So, in addition to being a visual feast, Blue is super resource for any decorating project involving this wonderful color. I'm going to give copies to my sisters, who are both imaginative decorators.

For lovers of the color blue, this is a handy little reference book sure to spark some ideas. I love blue as an accent color to cool down my favorite shades of pink, red and yellow and provide balance. The book features a room-by-room tour starting in the foyer, travelling through the living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, family rooms, bedrooms and baths. You really see how the different shades of blue impact the mood of a room. Blue can seem super cool and sometimes even warm with enough cream in it. One of my designer friends sponge-painted her bathroom in blue, and you felt like you were bathing in the ocean when you were in the room--how cool and refreshing!

The book should be helpful for those who love blue and want to consider which shade of it they prefer, which room or rooms they want to use it in and how much blue they like in a room. The book also pairs blue with other colors such as green, salmon, beige, and yellow so you can see which other colors you like blue with. Blue paints with their names and manufacturers' names (Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams etc.) are listed as a reference.

I loved the suggestions on blue accents as that's how I like to use the color: there were pages featuring party tables, lamps, vases, pillows, rugs, wallpapers, fabrics and tiles.

There are quotes by designers on blue which are fun to read and provoke thought on the use of blue. If HOUSE BEAUTIFUL publishes more books on color--and hope they do--would consider doing a slightly larger book in a paperback cover. With some of the rooms the reader may like to see more of the room, or a slightly larger photo of it, although you could see enough of most of the rooms to satisfy.

This book is a great resource for the price, and will be invaluable if you love the color blue and want to include it in your environment in a fresh and stylish way.

Since decorating books, like most other adult art books are almost always larger format i was very unhappy to find that this book is very small, half the size of other decorating books and bound so tightly and the photos so close to the binding that they are hard to see. HATE THE FORMAT- ANNOYING! I DO NOT LIKE ANNOYING BOOKS.The content? Do not know yet,alot of color photos that are hard to see and work with...And the photo that amazon has on this page to show us the book is ELONGATED and not accurate...never would have occured to check the size of the book but if i had seen it in person, i would not have bought it...
