The House and the Brain, I thought it was supposed to be more then one story; it was not.

The book is fairly interesting and for the most part well written. The problem is, the writer uses old world English, which makes it hard to understand sometimes, another problem is, a lot of the writing and dialog is overly complicated, long and convoluted.

The end to the book is fairly anticlimactic as well.

This was a good haunted house story but seemed a bit dated with several elements of the Spiritualism movement that was in its infancy at the time of publication. The author also went on several long missives expressing his ideas on the origins of hauntings and also displaying some considerable disbelief in the Spiritualism that filled this story.
