Perfect Mindless Action,
By
This review is from: House of The Dead (CD-ROM)
This is a game that reduces the first person shooter to, literally, shooting. There's no need for navigating, remembering where you are or where you need to go, no secret passages or special maneuvers: It's just aim-and-shoot time.As a result, the hardcore gamer will probably enjoy it for a little while and then go back to a game with more subtlety or multiplayer capacity. It's perfect for the casual gamer, though: There's no learning curve whatsoever. The voice acting is of the "wonderfully bad" variety, which gives the game a certain camp value, too. It's also good for kids, if you don't mind them being exposed to the gore, which is non-existent for the human characters and far enough over the top for your undead foes to go into the silly.

Move over Resident Evil, Sega is back!,

When I went to see a movie a couple months ago, I found out I was 30 minutes early. So, to burn some time, I decided to go to the arcade. When walking in, I had noticed a small group huddled around a game. When I decidied to have a swing at whatever game was being cheered for, I had the time of my life with the game I was playing. That game was "House of the Dead." Since it was recently released for the PC, there are some problems like glitches on the enemies and youreself which don't show much. Besides that, more options are available like the proper graphics setting, a boss mode where you could choose a boss you would like to play, and the color of blood the zombies spew out when being shot at(gross)! But side to the gore, It's the entertainment that counts. And while playing the game, your heart will be pounding, fingers sweating and preventing your fingers from shaking! This game is a winner!

One word: Phenomenal.,

This game goes way beyond addictive. Let me put it this way ~ my wife was upset at first at the violent and macabre nature of the game. It didn't take long, however, for her to get as sucked into it as I was! Now to make a long story short ... she's completed the game twice already, and I still haven't! Sega, hurry up with HOTD 2 for the PC!
