Book Description

February 28, 1999 A Schiffer Book for Collectors
Stunning images, thorough research, and exclusive material make this a book for many audiences: those who enjoy collecting Haeger, Stangl, or Fulper as well as those who enjoy reading history and good prose. For the Haeger collector, there are three lavishly illustrated price guides, a detailed account of Haeger's early artware production, and profiles of four of the companies' lead designers. Royal Hickman fans will find his profile to be the most extensive account of his life yet printed, including information on his work before, during, and after Haeger. Also, included are never-before published sketches of his Haeger creations. For the Fulper and Stangl collector, there is exclusive material that provides a detailed account of the "Haeger-Fulper Connection" as well as never-before published sketches made by Martin Stangl while at Haeger. There are a battery of Fulper images not seen in print in more than half of a century. Even the most serious Fulper collector should find much "new" material here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome addition to the pottery loving world!, February 12, 1999

This review is from: The House of Haeger, 1914-1944: The Revitalization of American Art Pottery (A Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Hardcover)
This wonderful book explores more than just Haeger's early years. It contains a wealth of information about Martin Stangl and his connections to the Fulper pottery and of course Fulper's later incarnation as Stangl pottery. I recommend this book without reservation to anyone seeking more information about Haeger, Fulper or Stangl. I have collected Fulper for a long time but still found useful insights. The photos are grand!

This book has many nice color pictures to help you identify the unmarked Haeger pottery that you may have found or may find. It will also help you place the age of your finds. It is always good to know when and where something old was made. This book tells you the history of the plant and what types of pottery they put out each year from 1914 - 1944. There is another book that picks up from 1945 to 1969. The Haeger pottery plant is still putting out fine pieces of pottery to this day.
