5.0 out of 5 stars What a cool soundtrack!
There is really no other word for the soundtrack to "House on Haunted Hill" than cool. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great theme and creepy music.
Don Davis's score for the high octane remake of William Castle's House on Haunted Hill gets off to an excellent start with the knock your socks off main theme. What follows that is nice, albeit not particularly special or memorable (with the exception of a cue or three), atmospheric enhancements. Great haunted house musice for those dark, foggy nights reading Stephen...

There is really no other word for the soundtrack to "House on Haunted Hill" than cool. Composed of various melodies, frightening noises and sound effects, and an overall tone of eeriness, Don Davis' score fits perfectly into the film, and makes for a very pleasant, if not creepy, listening experience. Track 1, Main Title, sets the tone at the beginning of the album with its pulsating organ beats and low string orchestra. Other tracks, such as Tracks 5 and 11, suggest a more set back and relaxed atmosphere, while most of the remaining tracks have a feel of suspense, terror and fright to them. On a special note, Track 16, Soiree a Saturation, is a wonderful mixture of ghostly voices, synthesizers and deep bass, enough to make anyone go crazy. A horror soundtrack that ranks among soundtracks to "The Mummy" and "The Haunting," this soundtrack will not disappoint fans of the film.

I fell in love with the movie when I first saw it. So I had to see it twice. Then I went and bought the cd. I listened to it, and I really enjoyed the spooky music. The best track is "Misty Misogamy". Sounds really nice. If you like a mix of scary and beautiful music, then this cd is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars End Title Song?, December 25, 1999

I bought this cd since I liked the end title song, called sweet dreams. But Eurythmics did not make it, Marlyn Manson revised it. In their album called The Last Tour something. If you want very scary, and I mean very scary music, this cd is for you. But, if you just like the end titles song, then go and get the Marlyn Manson single. BUt, this cd has every bit of music that was in the movie. I do like it anyways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don Davis is a very wonderful composer, I think., October 13, 2000

Well, where to begin? At first, I didn't really think I'd even care for the movie by the same title. I wasn't in to the whole "House on Haunted Hill" thing, new or old. I had never seen the old one, as a matter of fact, and STILL haven't. But, when I did finally see it, I was surprised to see Don Davis (The Matrix) had composed the music for this creepy, campy horror flick. The music, in my opinion, is very well done, and I especially like "Struggling to Escape", track number 15. It was one of the first pieces of music in the film to really catch my attention, but I heard more and more of it as I watched the film again, and I realized that I like the music to this film better than the music of "The Matrix". A very well done, melody-driven soundtrack that any fan of wonderful composition should truly love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeds The Matrix & "Reloaded", April 17, 2006
This review is from: House On Haunted Hill: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Don Davis is one of my favorite film composers. His atonality has always drawn me into the movies he scores, particularly his work on the Matrix trilogy. However, I recently purchased this album of Amazon, and... I am blown away by this. Every single cue is excellently-written. Comparing this score to that of The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded, this seems to be of better taste, making a close second to "The Matrix Revolutions" in my book.

I enjoyed the use of that frantic chorus throughout the film, shining through particularly in the cues "Pencil Neck" and "Soir?e ? Saturation," which is also probably one of my favorite bits on the album. I reccomend this to any Davis fan, horror movie fans, and, basically anu film music listener.

4.0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to actually watching the movie!, April 24, 2000

If you liked the movie, you'll love the soundtrack. It brings back all the terrifying memories of this remade classic and scares you all over again. If you listen to this soundtrack, you will literally be watching over your shoulder just to make sure the Doctor isn't behind you ready to experiment! Great music if you like origonal soundtrack music instead of the usual comilation of other artists's music with no origionality. I encourage you to get this soundtrack, but get the terminator 2 soundtrack first if you don't already have it. Its the best! :)

Even though the film wasn't great this is an excellent soundtrack to put on if you feel like ready a scary novel by candlelight.

from London, England-2-the USA This is a wonderfully, but frightening to listen to! If you havn't seen the movie it's not really for u because it helps to keep the images in your mind and bring back the horrific terrors of the ghosts and spooks of the House, on Haunted Hill! Either way my opinion of this awesome C.D. will never change because I own the movie and C.D. and watch it at least 30 times a week. At my school on fridays you can bring in music to listen to during S.S.R. and my teacher said~ " This is an Awful movie and you should not even have this Audio disc!" So thats how I knew it had to be good and it wasn't just my point of view becuase she usually hates the stuff us kids/teenagers like!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great haunting musical CD., December 28, 1999
This review is from: House On Haunted Hill: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Although I thought the movie wasn't all that great, Don Davis's musical score made it a better movie. One of my favorite tracks is #15. From the hauntingly beautiful organ from the main title to the other haunting tracks, this is a must buy for any soundtrack library.
