5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Best, July 26, 2007
This review is from: House of Hits (Audio CD)
This is music at it's finest. The man (legendary NYC producer) is a genius. Other reviewers say "a must for any hip hop head", this is a must for any music lover. I hate contemporary hip-hop but this is more like old-school funk with a loopy edge. Gritty, raw and very real. All the rappers are tight (especially Shante and Big Daddy) and the music is prototype for DJ Shadow and all new underground hip hop and even Beasties although they were on the scene at the same time. Of course I have a soft spot for it 'cos this is what they were playing at all the joints like Milky Way and PayDay at the time in NYC but hey, this stuff stands way above any commercial radio music at the moment.

From Eric B & Rakim's stunning "Eric B Is President" to MC Shan's wonderful "The Bridge" to the stellar posse-cut "The Symphony". All of Marley Marl's best productions are on this compilation. Any hip-hop had should own this! Hear how great it sounded back in the day.

And my voice is twice as horrifying as vincent price... take a deep breath because you dont have another left, coming back like I'm avenging my brothers death, make competitors run for medicine cause I put out more lights in a fight than conn edison. Rip the damn stage like I'm on a rampage, so if you want rage, I'ma make front page, read the headline, sucka, todays the deadline, and its way past bedtime. All the classics by the Biz, Kane, G Rap, plus the Bridge and Eric B for President and both symphonies, you gotta have it because its on cd of all the stuff you probably have on some old warped tapes but need to have on cd.
