5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book.
Although I normally don't like essay collections, I found this one to be an easy read. William Rivers Pitt seems to be almost prescient when one looks at the date of the essays, and then sees what has happened in this country since then.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious Tome
This book could not be more wearisome and erroneous. Rather than attempting a chapter by chapter refutation of this leftist assault on America masquerading as non-fiction, let me just suffice this review with the fact that Mr. Pitt cherry picks his facts to suit his conclusions. He makes leaps of logic that only a shill for al Qeada could find their way through...

Although I normally don't like essay collections, I found this one to be an easy read. William Rivers Pitt seems to be almost prescient when one looks at the date of the essays, and then sees what has happened in this country since then.

Mr. Pitt's writing is excellent - the reason I normally don't care for collections of writings is that I find them boring. Not in this case.

The writing style is engaging, the work is obviously well researched, as well as passionate, and most of all, Mr. Pitt's writing can bring out your emotions, as few writers can. Some of his writings almost brought me to tears, some made me angry, but there is humor, as well.

I am very glad I bought and read this book - I learned a lot, and enjoyed doing it.

In simple terms, using hard facts, William Pitt lays out exactly how and why our ship of state, America, has lost her rudder. No name-calling, no straw man arguments, no ad hominem attacks, just clear, factual arguments on how America has suffered under the present administration. Should be required reading in current events and history classes.

This review is from: House of Ill Repute: Reflections on War, Lies, and America's Ravaged Reputation (Paperback)
This is an excellent book which lays out the truth about the Bush Administration. If you love America, read this book as soon as possible. The author has a gift for writing with such clarity, you will read through it with ease. I finished this book in one sitting, as I could not put it down. Now I have passed it on to family and friends. I highly recommend that you purchase this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well written truthful book, December 21, 2006
This review is from: House of Ill Repute: Reflections on War, Lies, and America's Ravaged Reputation (Paperback)

Whether we like to admit it or not, the Bush administration has left us in a mess. Iraq, Katrina, Oil dependency, 911 happening on their watch....

This book takes us back and lets us revisit these troubling issues, so hopefully we can correct the mistakes and not let them happen again.

Those that are critical of this book - have. not. read. it.

When was the last time people were so afraid of a book, or the truth? It tells you that there is something worth reading here. And there is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this and weep, America, December 27, 2006
This review is from: House of Ill Repute: Reflections on War, Lies, and America's Ravaged Reputation (Paperback)
An excellent essay on the ravages inflicted on this great nation by the few who needed a war in the Middle East at the sacrifice of our nation's reputation and abilities to negotiate and use diplomacy to end conflict.

This should be required reading for the Administration and all members of Congress.

Another excellent, finger-on-the-pulse writing from Mr. Pitt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pitt has the gift of righteous anger in spades. Not recommended for those who can't handle the truth., December 20, 2006
This review is from: House of Ill Repute: Reflections on War, Lies, and America's Ravaged Reputation (Paperback)
In his first book (with Scott Ritter), "War on Iraq: What Team Bush Doesn't Want You to Know" (2002), William Rivers Pitt established himself as a clear voice for reason against the invasion and occupation of Iraq by the neocon death cult known as the George W. Bush administration. All the lies subsequently exposed leading up to the greatest and still-unfolding foreign policy disaster in American history are presaged by years in Pitt's stunningly accurate depiction of an out-of-control American presidency. Bent on ideological fervor and enabled by a sheeplike, compliant Congress and profit-driven media machine, Bush and the ruling class fooled the American people into supporting a hellish parody of the vision of their Founding Fathers and allowed their Constitution to be swept into the maw of their grandiose and perverse new mission for the Republic.

In this latest chronicle of the tone-deaf, blinders-on, 'ready - fire - aim' blunders that define the Bush presidency, Pitt scathingly and accurately points out the folly of the PNAC-driven agenda and points out the obvious, what at three in four Americans now believe: George W. Bush is a failure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the Facts!, December 21, 2006
This review is from: House of Ill Repute: Reflections on War, Lies, and America's Ravaged Reputation (Paperback)
As usual, William Rivers Pitt delivers the hard, cold facts wrapped in his trademark witty and concise writing style. A true pleasure to read... unless you are still clinging to the lies of the GWB administration. In that case, I imagine it's pretty painful.

On the positive, Mr Pitt has a gift for prose, but for my personal taste it is long winded. The book could be made significantly more readable by shortening it to a pamphlet.
