House of Large Sizes, January 2, 2003

What can I say about the latest release from House of Large Sizes other than it is the *best* record I've heard from 2002? Dave Diebler's snarl along with Barb Schlif's crushing bass lines and Brent Hanson's furious drumming make this record one not to be missed. The album is complete with the punk sound you've come to know and love from HOLS but when they expose their collective soft underbelly on slower songs like "Seaweed Eyes" and "Trees Make The Wind" those songs hold their own and nearly eclipse the rest of the album. If Spinal Tap's equipment goes to 11 then to fully appreciate this record you'll need to find something that goes to 12 because when you put this record in you can't help but turn up the volume.
