All Thru the House,
By
This review is from: All Thru the House (Leisure Arts Presents Christmas Remembered) (Hardcover)
This book is full of more Santas, angels, and Victorian children in the usual Leisure Arts style of using turn of the century postcard art for cross stitch needlework graphics. The result is beautiful, although this book includes some country style art too. If I had time, I would stitch the snow covered Victorian style house, the angels with beautiful wings kneeling around the Christ Child, and the beaded snowflakes for my snowman tree. The Twelve Days of Christmas music sampler with matching ornaments would look great in a music room. I love the alphabet they've stitched on the country/Victorian bed linens. There are also cute ginger bread country kitchen items, and a quote from Dickens, with plenty of projects suitable for stitchers with abilities from beginning to advanced. The charts are beautiful, easy to read, and color-coded that really are great to stitch from.

Classic not whimsical,
This review is from: All Thru the House (Leisure Arts Presents Christmas Remembered) (Hardcover)
I really like this book the designs are classic traditional designs, with minimal country or whimsical designs. The charts are easy to follow, my only problem is the size of the book makes it difficult to work from for the 2 page designs, I have made the 12 days of christmas ornaments, both stockings and multiple versions the samplers.

This review is from: All Thru the House (Leisure Arts Presents Christmas Remembered) (Hardcover)
Sometimes it seems difficult to find a Christmas book with unusual themes. Novel or creative; yes, unusual; no. This book is an exception. I agree with the earlier reviewer that this is a wonderful book but for a different reason. I find the use of simple color fascinating and there are several spohisticated "old world," examples in this book including snowflakes, Kris Kringle, mittens, and Victorian boy and girl angels. The center spread is of a very colorful set of "The 12 Days of Christmas" and this is followed by a stand alone picture of the words and music in a similar border motif. Just gorgeous! Santa's galore, and a hollyberry clock face are a few more things to tempt the stitcher. In addition there are several gift pieces with differnt motifs and stockings, of course. You can't beat the content and you can't beat the current price.
