A Kid's Review
This review is from: The House on Mango Street (SparkNotes) (Paperback)
After a total of six days, i was able to accomplish my task in reading the book " The House On Mango Street." The simplicity of words that was described by the author,Sandra Cinsneros, made it for myself, as the reader, to have a batter understanding of what was occoring in every chapter of the book. I liked how there was a large amout of usage with both similies and metaphores while objects, places and people were being compared and described. While thinking back on my own child hood, i was easily able to connect my feelings towards the main character, Esperanza. See, she was brought up in a poor family and ended up moving into a small house, not fitting everyone in her family. I was able to compare to this because when I was about seven years old, my parents were not doing so well with money and we had moved into a two bedroom apartment. I felt like the poorest first grader at my school. But I grew to learn that we have to live with what we got, and thats exactly what Esperanza did. She gained both good and bad friends. Another reason why I did enjoy reading this, is because there was a lot of feelings that were expressed from the members in the household. Heritage, individuallity, religion, and apathy all described within this story. As well as the latina culture was described in the families backround ! [:
