Editorial Reviews

Review

The nine chapters in this book discuss topics such as redefining your life, downsizing, depression, free time, methods of coping, and the sandwich generation. "How to" lists are included in each chapter. A chapter on what not to do is lacking. I highly recommend this excellent, basic, 101 book for empty nesters, and as a preparatory book for those about to become empty nesters. Although written more from a maternal viewpoint, fathers will also glean useful insight.

Sooner or later parents find themselves in a quiet house. For years, mothers spend 24-7 taking care of their children, making sure they are growing up safely, to one day find the kids have lives of their own. How do we handle the loss of indentity; the sense of purpose; the life patterns we are accustomed to living; the loss of feeling needed? This Christian-based book answers our questions and gives suggestions for coping with what most parents will face. It is a well-written, faith-building book. A must read for the empty nester.

This book greatly encourages us empty nesters who are a little bit befuddled after the kids have went off to college or are still home even , but are still grown. I like the word they used....unesting. Just like when we were getting the babies ready for when they come (nesting) un-nestimg is for when they go. I still read something every night even though I have read the whole thing ! It`s a great tool to help you through.

i loved this book! It came at just the right time & when I needed it most! I have recommended it for several of my friends & will also be purchasing it again in the future for empty nestors! Loved that the verses in it lined up with just how I was feeling or what I was going thru at the time!

I would definately buy from this seller again. I received it just as ordered and in a very short amount of time. I found this book helpful for parents/single parents who are about to become an empty-nester. Best thing I loved was the book being written from a Christian's point of view. I hi-lighted much of the book and know I will pull it out when I go through a rough day of being an empty-nester.

I enjoyed this book, as I am becoming an empty nest mother myself. It has good advice. Though I am not a church goer, the segments in the book are easy to read and you can easily skip past the biblical parts. But beware there is a lot of it in the book, if that is something that bothers you.
