Some of the earliest memories I have are of hanging out in my family's living room listening to this album loud enough to wake the neighbors (my parents were party animals even then!). Then I had a radio show in college a couple of years ago, and so I dusted off my parents' old LP of this album and played it one night. The response was immediate and enthusiastic--"we want more!" So, "House of the Rising Sun" became the disco anthem of the 1990's for a small, sleepy southern college town, a phenomenon which is proof that great music really does stand the test of time.

The Santa Esmeralda versions of The House of the Rising Sun and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood are the reason those are two of my favorite songs. SE is representative of what was great about disco. This is definitely a club classic.

I borrowed this album 19 years ago from my sister and never returned it!! She found the CD on Amazon and sent it to me. Listened to it after not hearing it for several years and fell in love with it again! The greatest version of The House of the Rising Sun you will ever hear. Enjoy!

be aware that their CDs (in particular, "The House..."
are actually CD-R's that many players (especially
car CD players and a number of DVD players) do NOT
play. I do NOT know if this is so about their other
CDs. We all know how to make such CD's at home :)
If their prices were 25%-30% of what they are,
it would be OK. Legal issues is their problem :)

I originally purchased an original vinyl edition of this album in around 1981 while working in construction over in Texas....played the entire work on a quadraphonic system that really brought out the very best of everything on it....especially the band's amazing rendition of "House of the Rising Sun" - on that cut the seeming endless revue of practically every concussion and brass instrument in existence was dazzling to say the least. Working in Texas exacted a toll on me physically and emotionally but the music I'd discovered on this album energized me and reinvigorated me to the maximum degree and I was successful to the nth degree in overcoming all the challenges encountered there, even managed to "rise" above the crowd. I overplayed that particular song and came to see it as the ONLY "House of the Rising Sun" work worth listening to. Then some dry years came after a theft of most of my classics occurred and I never heard it again.....until 2009, and Amazon! When I recently rediscovered my one-time favorite album of all time on Amazon, I was enthralled and immediately began procedures to procure the CD which reproduced the entire work of my original vinyl...it was awesome before and even more awesome now. Thank you for being here for me and allowing me to reacquaint myself with Santa Esmeralda. The price was amazing and so was the short turn-around time for the transaction's conclusion.
